Great video. Love how you’re showing us what to do with skills rather than just show the skills. And good to see you using a different guitar.

Pentatonic is the core, has been since age thirteen when my classically minded guitar teacher did some blues noodling during a tea break and I, bored of learning classical numbers I had no connection too (I was a Rhythm & Blues nut from a very early age), said TEACH ME THAT!!! And when, some time later after playing bass in bands, playing by ear with just the pentatonic as my main tool, someone taught me the theory of relative minors, well that was another lightbulb moment that took my playing to another level. Its been a love/not so in love (I wouldn't go so far as to say hate) affair as I fall into the common pentatonic dead ends of repetition that so many players seem to go through with it, the pentatonic continues to be ever omni-present. Over the last couple of years I have been learning modal playing and scales and even then I'll be practicing say a Dorian mode and suddenly I'll be like, 'Oh theres the pentatonic pattern, nestled in the scale patterns. When it comes to our friend the Pentatonic, it seems you can run, but you can't hide 😂😉

Over 20 years with the pentatonic (minor and major) and still finding new ways to use it. This lesson was enlightening and inspiring as always, Rotem!

Fun fact, I learned the blues scale in a random guitar magazine when I was about 10. That moment started my improvisation journey. For many years, I didn't knew what a pentatonic was. So to me, + 30 years later, a pentatonic is still the blues scale without the extra note. I still use all that stuff a lot. It's in my colour palet, no mistake.

I first learned the pentatonic scale in 1975. Been using it ever since. I use it a lot as a sort of benchmark for other modes and scales.

Learned the pentatonic scale in my early days of playing like most of us, but crossed it out as the rock/blues sound i don't want to hear anymore. It wasn't until I got into jazz last year that i started to see how versatile it actually is and since i suck at alternate picking, the 2ntp was annoying so i tried ways to play it with hybrid picking and economy picking, quickly changing centers is still hard for me, but level 4 is definitely something i want to achieve

Great lesson, I wonder how much of your pick is visible, since many teachers advice to play only with the tip, and most players let only the tip be visible.

What I don't understand is how to use chromatic notes. Not that I am at all in all modes of Harmonic minor Harmonic major and melodic minor but even the modes I'm familiar with it becomes very chaotic when I try to change scales over chord changes. Anyways I love your videos.

I love your approach to the music but I would like you to make a video on functional theory. I mean how to write a solo. I mean how it happens in the study of classical music. I don't think anyone cares about why to do a thing and not just how. I mean how the melody has to relate to the harmony. That would be a tremendous lesson in guitar theory that no one has ever done.

I love your videos in general, but I found this one hard to follow. Like most guitarists, I know my pentatonic rock and blues and country scales very well all over the neck, but I still found it hard to get some of the faster licks in this video, especially the ones that contain non-pentatonic notes or where the chords, and hence lead patterns change so quickly from one brto the next that it s hard tell just what you are playing over the new chords and why. In general though, it is a fine video like all of the others, For me to get much of use from it would require me either to have the tabs for it if they exist or play the video through very slowly and stop at each point where I miss something and try to work out each riff while stopping and replaying and stopping etc.for each riff I can get at once. but the later is really a rather tedious way to try to learn things, so I would probably just go to another video with tabs. Keep up your great work!!
