That's what I said too. I saw them in Minneapolis/St. Paul,MN. And they were loud & Awesome, as was Cinderella. Roth was making sure he was going to blow Van Halen away! That's why he got Vai & Sheehan. The first 3-4 tours with Van Halen he was good too! (Singing all the words) but Dave has always been a showman fitst!!! All the running around, jumping, all the kicks he does and tbe big split he does at the beginning off the drum riser. If he was even remotely drunk he would break a leg or tear an ACL or hamstring. I spent many years doing martial arts i know. He was awesome on stage. I wish I would've seen him in Van Halen, especially like the Women & Children or Fair Warning tours.

Another note......Roth gets some credit for pushing the band to what we see here. One thing Vai has always mentioned about what he learned from Dave, was that he needed to be in shape. At first he didn't understand why that would be such a big deal to Dave. but he worked for Dave, so he listened. Dave got him running, biking, and eating good. He said playing live, if doing it right, and to respect the audience, is like a sport, and you have to be in shape. Watch Vai and Billy, and you can see how important fitness was to their performance. And of course Greg is arguably putting in the most work.

That was a hell of a line up and ill say it this album especially this song blew me away when i heard it and at that moment i was a bigger fan of Dave and what he was doing over Van Hagar! How blessed was Dave to perform with Eddie and then Vai! Crazy......from the heat!!!

I was at this show in Greensboro NC. It was one of the best concerts I've seen, Cinderella opened and they were awesome too. I also saw Van Halen on the 5150 tour the same year and was blown away by that. I never got into the Dave vs Van Halen or the Eddie vs Steve nonsense, different styles. I wish I could go back in time and see both shows again.

Damn, this has got to be the pinnacle of Roth's solo career. What an awesome album, and amazing band he assembled... Sheehan and Vai together! Fuck yeah.

This is the best DLR performance I've ever seen. Thank you very much for sharing it! Dave seems so happy. They all do.

ALittleAintEnough Come on dude. I'm a fan of this line DLR line up and as far as I'm concerned it was the best band for Sheehan and Vai, and Dave actually tried to perform again. But Van Halen was coming off of 5150..which was awesome, and Eat Em N Smile was right before Van Halen's next album which was appropriately named OU812 in response to the name of Roth's Album name. Some pretty big songs on both 5150 and OU812...then FUCK came out which was perhaps the best Van Halen line up. This was Dave's best work outside of Van Halen...Eat Em N Smile was/is a bad ass album.

Saw this tour and it kicked ass …..I can’t believe that we all used to dress like that on stage and it was the norm and cool 😂 But, wouldn’t trade those days for anything ! What fun we all had 😎🎸

Saw this show about two days later in Chicago……might be my favorite and best concert ever!!!…….you had to be there, the energy from the crowd and the band was otherworldly, fun, intense, intricate, sexy, etc….so happy to often watch this, yet saddened it will never be duplicated or matched….party rock n roll

Talk about some hardcore energy in that arena. I like to picture all the DLR and Van Halen fans that went there not knowing who Steve Vai was, being blown away and thinking "who the HELL is this amazing guitar player?" Same goes with Sheehan.

Vai and Sheehan. Has to be one of the duos that had the most fun on stage. Just constant clowning. So fun to watch.

It was strange because EEAS was a stellar rock album but then a couple years later "Skyscraper" came out and was disappointing --- just a mish-mash of poorly writtten songs
@junserafin5241 Жыл бұрын
They didn't write any songs. Or couldn't. They were virtuosos but could not write a #1 song or put together a top 10 album. Contrast that with Ed Van Halen who was a virtuoso but also wrote popular songs. Popular songs= money. Jump for example. Hot for Teacher. Look at the songs on the 5150 album. Being a virtuoso does not mean popularity or making money. To the public you are just an oddball. Now if a virtuoso blends that talent with great songwriting that the public loves, also add a touch of partying reputation and you have a winning combo. That's why DLR failed and Van Halen was so popular (succeeded)
