Three years after an official report found 1,400 children had been the victim of sexual exploitation in Rotherham, two of the victims have waived their anonymity to speak for the first time on camera. They discuss the continuing impact on their lives, an ordeal which has continued even after some of the abusers have been given lengthy prison sentences.

If anyone has children in care right now, please make the social workers do their job, and keep in close contact with them. Know your rights. Get legal advice and follow up with them. Be consistent. It is just terrible what is happening to young girls in the U. K. but has no one ever warned these girls about what happens to you if you go with older men in cars or to their homes. Where are these girls parents - not judging the girls or their parents, obviously under age girls = statutory rape by older men regardless of context, the men are the criminals, the girls the victims. But how do these men get close to these girls, what are they being lured with? How do they get access to groom them.

That's the whole point. These rapists make a point of targeting the most vulnerable girls. Girls who have no parents, no guidance, and no-one to look after them. The fathers are often not around, the mothers can't cope, the kids are taken into state care, and that's the final death knell. Many of the victims rather pathetically say: "He said he loved me. I thought he'd look after me." And because these kids needed this care and love, these monsters found it easy to abuse them. The whole thing's screwed up.

Personally- I cannot tolerate it. I was very seriously abused throughout childhood. My husband was murdered and there’s yet more I’ve suffered. None of it comes close to how this all makes me feel.
