Roto-fab Big Gulp Adds Hella Supercharger Whine

Got around to installing the Roto-fab Big Gulp Cold Air Intake and the 2019 Corvette ZR1 LT5 Throttle Body on my 6th Gen Camaro ZL1. It added so much more whine and even with no tune I’m SUPRISED by the gains

Doesn't the Rotofab or any top open filter draw in hot air? I would think the stock air box would be best as it's all sealed not drawing hot air from.engine bay

I heard Chevy put a sound deadening plate in the supercharger that can be removed and increases supercharger whine a lot

Yes a tune is necessary to readjust maf scaling for larger piping

ZT did you put new headers on your ZL1? Im thinking of going with Kooks 2" long tube headers with a corsa x pipe and corsa npp exhaust on my new 22 ZL1. Just wondering how the everything will fit together? Go Buccs! LFG!!!

I recently switched from the rotofab to the biggulp. I'm modded with a Maggie, cam, E, etc. The rotofab gained ZERO back to back dyno with a tune. The 4" roto fab was enough with the big gulp being a sales pitch. Of course, I pulled the big gulp off and sent it back. Trust me, nothing to grow into over the 4' roto bab.

@@Brian01987 I never drove the car. It was on the dyno. The power and tq didn't make a gain and the car sounded the same. Remember, I have a Maggie, which makes more blower noise than a stock blower.

I’ve never used an afe. In neutral, GM has a preset rev limit at 4K rpm

The rotofab strictly states the big gulp requires a tune. Also you switched to an LT5 throttle body without a tune? I dunno man, I'd get a tune asap.

First off thanks for the support. 💯💯 I spoke about the tune at the end of the video. Main difference is the big gulp changes maf scaling. It can cause some stumbling and the biggest issue is wot. Ive drove the car twice and have not been wot plus the main reason they recommended a tune is to actually take advantage of the intake. (Regular rotofab does not change pipe diameter from stock hence no tune *required*) The fueling isn’t even off enough to throw a cel and no immediate effects to driveability. So being my own tuner and understanding what exactly is happening is why I’m not concerned about an immediate tune. But again I haven’t even drove the car much. I appreciate the concern tho bro. Congrats on the 2022 🔥🔥 what color?

It's awesome that you do your own tuning! If someone were to want to get into that, what setup would you recommend? HP Tuners and a license? or is there a better option? I was kind of thinking of purchasing a tune and then trying to understand the changes that were made, then go from there. @@ZtZoomin
