Will say, it looks really pretty going down the lane. Those colors are wonderfully eye-catching once spinning, even if the nova probably has better shelf appeal imo.

Just got this and threw a clean 248 in its first full game. The lane shine helps tame it down a bit, but I do plan on using a polished Helios as the step down.

House shot doesn't exactly mean heavy oil. Would like to see you throw it on Mexico City. Everything hooks when there's friction to the right. House makes every ball look good
@jovanlouis47912 жыл бұрын
But by experience you can still tell when a ball will be good for heavy oil even when throwing on house

Great video Anthony, like the comparison with 2 other balls. This shows what their different reactions are on same lane. What is your layout? Thanks.
@fireflydreams17912 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend a layout for someone with speed average of 12-14 and not high revs? I like the motion of this ball but wonder if it isn't really a good choice for lower speed and rev bowlers. Your thoughts?

65 x 4 1/2 x 35. Blend of projection and strong pin to get the ball to read and punch

I comfortably sit at around 14 MPH (can go up or down 1 MPH either way) and I just picked up a Gem and a Proton Physix last week. For reference, I ordinarily throw a Hammer Statement Pearl or Storm Hy-Road Pearl on typical house shots, generally starting at the 13 board and getting it out to around the 6. Here's my analysis so far: I drilled the Gem pin up, maybe half an inch above the finger grips and right between them. I told the PSO that I didn't want to alter the natural inclination of the ball to grab early since I'd be using it primarily on sport patterns and needed something that would grab early on longer/heavier conditions. I've thrown it on the 36 foot PWBA Albany Open pattern and the 39 foot Kegel Middle Road V2 pattern. On the Albany Open pattern, it struggled really hard getting through the blended oil on the outside, and grabbed way too early going through the middle. I think some of this is due to 3 of the 5 other bowlers on my pair throwing urethane and pushing the oil outside, but that's just a guess. After 4 games, I still didn't have a clue where a good line for the Gem would be. For contrast, it turned beautifully on the Middle Road, starting at 15 and getting it out to around 5. I'm not the highest rev bowler out there, so it was satisfying seeing the Gem dig into the lane and crush the pins like that. Having said that, it is very aggressive; if you throw it even half an MPH too slow, you're going through the nose guaranteed. As the lanes broke down, I only had to move right a bit, the new line going from 12 out to 4, and the ball still hit very hard. I drilled the Physix pin down because I wanted to give it extra length but still keep a somewhat aggressive back-end to it. Instead of throwing it out and letting it run back towards the pocket, I wanted to throw this one hard and in. I haven't had a chance to throw this one as much, but looking back, I think it would have been perfect for the PWBA Albany pattern as it was pretty dry inside of 15. A line something like 25 out to about 12 I think would have looked pretty good, but hindsight is 20/20. From what little I've seen of it, I think pin down was definitely the right call to keep the aggressive tendencies of the coverstock, but still give myself a little forgiveness if I swing it out too far right or pull it through the oil in the middle.

What ball should I get? My coach told me to get a ball that’s roughly $200 at the end of drilling and everything but he doesn’t want me to get any urethane.
@solarblazeyt84612 жыл бұрын
If your coach said no urethane, he's not letting you take advantage of some of the best balls on the market right now. Both the Rubicon UC3 and the Black Widow Pink Urethane are great balls, easily top 5 in my opinion right now. For that price, however, you could look at the BW Ghost Pearl if you're someone that needs the ball to help you hook, or if you have trouble hooking the ball too much, you could always look at something like the Wolverine or the Phaze 4. If you need something weaker than that, I would take a look at either a Hustle or a Tropical Surge, both are affordable and still great balls.
