Good review. Wish I had seen this before purchasing. Was going to use it for a replacement of my Nomad Dagger; drilled it with the same layout -- I had been using the Nomad Dagger with a 3000 resurface annually, for many years. The Wild Streak was much longer & slightly more backend than the Nomad Dagger when thrown in the same position of across the 2nd arrow; down & in type of play. The Wild Streak needed a more delicate, perfectionist touch - can't be sloppy. Pattern type is Main St V2 on wood lanes. The Nomad Dagger started (at beginning of buff area 32') early & rumbled with a long arc to the pocket, small entry angle. The Wild Streak went down & through the buff area (32'-42'), then started moving when it saw friction. Left many various single pins with the Wild Streak. Plugged & redrilled with a larger Val angle and resurfaced to 2000 seemed to tame the wildness down to more consistency.

Hi, Luke. I end up buying this ball for my son. All we can say is WOW!!! He was really impressed with this ball. It moves and reacts like an asymmetric ball and it's a hooker!!! First game scored a 279.

I appreciate both your technical and applicable sides within a review like this: those who can just look at the numbers and figure out what a ball should do will love it while people like me who need it broken down a little more in plain terms will embrace this too for being so straightforward and easier-to-understand.

Here is what I would like to see Luke. You make these videos and put them on here usually before the ball is available to the public, meaning most of us have not seen one in person. I think it would be cool if you just took 5 or 10 seconds on each video and held the camera around the ball to show everyone what it really looks like. We know usually the product photos arent a good representation online sometimes.

I think this is my first ever post on youtube but I this ball is worth a post for sure. After seeing this review I thought it might be a good ball for me. I'm a below average league bowler (avg. ~175), got this ball two weeks ago. I'm in the lowest league playing team (4 vs. 4, 3 vs. 3) here and people play everywhere on the lanes with all the different kind of styles one can imagine. Played in two different centers one with 24ml and one with 25ml oil, got now 20 games on this ball and played 288 in the one center (3rd game with the newly drilled ball) and 289 the next week in the other center. After 20 games I'm 210+ average with this ball. It is a strike monster, release sensitive yes, but thats why I bought it to get my release more stable and when you have it this ball just drives, leaves hardly any corner pins and gives you lots of controll!! I can trully recommend this and will for sure order another one next year.

I think I'm going to keep doing them anyway, I have to keep the reviews fairly straight forward and palatable, but this is the kind of stuff I really like doing. Not as easy to digest for most, but it helps get some value out there for others too

@@LukeRosdahl Bowling in general needs more content like this. Most ball reviews are "IT HOOKS ALL TEH MUCHLY GO BIE IT NAO MUST HAVE!" and that's just useless. Every ball made will hook, every ball made will strike. Also, any ball made will leave corners and every ball made will be a dog on certain conditions. Any reviewer could have a dry house shot put down and make any ball appear to be an automatic strike machine. We (serious bowlers) really need more information than is available and this kind of content goes a very long way towards filling that information hole. This is why I throw money at you every month on Patreon!

As a player coming back to bowling after 12 years and a low average of about 140 since ive been back... (with house ball lol) slightly rev dominant and about 15.5 mph.. what ball would you suggest that would hide my mistakes a little more than this ball?

You'd probably want something an IQ Tour or an IQ Emerald if you're rev dominant anyway.

Luke, what layout and surface are you using in this one? Is it lane shined or did you smooth it out from box? I'm now addicted to your videos, and it's 3:15am, and I have to work in the morning. Thanks a lot. lol!
@LukeRosdahl5 жыл бұрын
LOL . . I think the layout is 5 x 5 x 3 . . this is straight out of the box, it's a 3000 sheen so it's going to look kind of shiny right away, and then it just continued to shine throughout the filming.
@joebeagle10095 жыл бұрын
@@LukeRosdahl Awesome. I'm going to order some new balls and try this layout, it seems like the 5 x 5 x 3 is kind of like your baseline layout to work off of, and then tweaked on some certain coverstocks, like the Idol pearl and the sanded Ink? Am I seeing that right? Right now my best 2 balls are both Radicals, an Intel at 4-1/2 x 5-3/4 x 2-7/8 and a Katana at 3-1/2 x 5-3/8 x 2-3/8 so it doesn't seem to be a huge change anyhow, and I really like your reactions, they are more in line with being less jumpy off the friction which is what I'd like to try to do with a combination of different equipment. I'm really pretty close to your roll, even though everything before the release looks different lol! I'm pretty much decided on a re-tooling and moving over to Storm/Roto because of your videos, and your intelligent insight, and knowing that I would have a good place to get reliable well thought out info on new equipment and relevant topics. I'm thinking Crux Prime, Phaze II, Idol Pearl, Idol Pro, Pro Motion, Hustle Ink, and a Wild Streak. I want a whole new set for league and sport tourneys and sweepers. I also think this would be a good bag for Reno, based on your thoughts on them... Thanks so much for your help. Before I pull the trigger at Buddies, are you somewhere where I could get some of them from you?
@sadboisonly10045 жыл бұрын
Personally throwing one myself, I can confirm that hand adjustments do matter when playing straighter because the second I wrapped around it like I usually do it went left but keeping my hand up the back it's very tame down lane and I can get as deep as I want and it won't quit

What you just described was my experience with the fight. It was a tattletale ball. When I was throwing the ball well it looked great...when I am slightly off it goes back in the bag. I'm still currently throwing an Unhinged for my house shot ball. By the numbers this is looking like a close replacement except it has a solid cover instead of the pearl of the Unhinged. Do you think hitting the WS with polish would get it close to what I'm getting from the Unhinged?
@LukeRosdahl5 жыл бұрын
No, the Hyroad is actually much closer, the Unhinged was basically the Roto Grip Hyroad when it came out, I'd just go that direction. The shapes are really different from the WS to the Unhinged.

Yes, actually, would be a very good training ball. I'm finding that I keep using it more and more myself.
@deist3r5 жыл бұрын

@michaellopour74095 жыл бұрын
Yeah I really appreciated that evaluation - it's a part of reviews that is missing when only really good bowlers review balls. As an average league bowler, it's nice to know which equipment will correct my mistakes and which will magnify them. Not that either is good or bad, they are both appropriate and welcome in the proper circumstances. I wonder if there are general characteristics of core/cover that can be categorized in this way (forgiving/unforgiving) based on bowler traits?
