Great video. I often pass through Rotterdam (it's the dutch city I've visited the most for various reasons), but I learned a ton about the area around the station. Cannot wait to get these ICNG trains in Belgium too, the current sets are insanely unreliable as I'm sure you know. the interior capacity looks very small. I am nervous as the trains to Brussels are already insanely busy almost always.

the NS has orderd these trains with a different layout. The current trains we have are for netherlands only. ddng are also orderen, these are double deckers.

Great video and extremely comprehensive! As a small nit, I was briefly thrown by what you meant when using "what" instead of "which." For instance, "the handicapped space is nearby, what makes sense" should be "[…] which makes sense." I'm genuinely impressed by the production value of your videos, which even include Dutch subtitles!

It’s so weird to hear Eurostar as being a NL-BE-FR connection! Although I hope that eventually there will be direct services between London and Cologne - let’s hope with the (likely) new government in Britain next year! Excellent video as always!

Thank you 😊. I also really have to get used to the name Eurostar. However this might also bring some possibilities, the former Thalys trains are always fully booked between the Netherlands and Paris, if they can use the E320 trains as well (now for train rides to the UK) on this route, there's much more capacity.

I'll be in Rotterdam soon, and want to do a day trip just to Amsterdam. What's the easiest way to get to Amsterdam by train, just a regular ticket, no high speed, just Rotterdam Central to Amsterdam Central?

What's the best way, is personal. The fastest way is by (the only a bit) pricier intercity direct train the slowe way might be fun as well, as you het to see a bit more of the country (including my city of The Hague).

I whish the NS had never bought this train. I travel on this ICNG train a few times a week (1st class) and compared to the old train with Traxx locomotives, I experience the ICNG as a very uncomfortable train. 1.) The train has much more noise inside 2.) moves restless 3.) has very small folding tables like other newer trains 4.) tables are too far from the seat so your back hurts 5) people trip over the steps many times between compartments. How could a train like that be an improovement?

Weet iemand hoe dat precies werkt op spoor 2 in Rotterdam met de paspoortcontrole? Er komen treinen naar Frankrijk en Engeland. Alleen voor de treinen naar Engeland moet je natuurlijk langs de paspoortcontrole. Is het perron dan zo afgegrendeld dat je verplicht langs de paspoortcontrole moet, en voor de treinen naar Frankrijk niet? Ik vind die verschillende kleuren in de ICNG niet alleen verwarrend, ik vind het net alsof je in een bordeel loopt, vooral met die paars/roze verlichting. Ik denk dat ze hier gauw mee gaan stoppen. Ik had ook begrepen dat de ICNG's pas 200 zouden gaan rijden als alle oude treinen weg waren, want dan kon ook de dienstregeling verkort worden, maar zoals te zien was rijden ze nu al 200. Zijn die ritten met ICNG's dan eerder op hun eindpunt dan in de dienstregeling staat?

Spoor 2 wordt deels afgezet voor de Eurostar naar Londen, dat werkt prima als ik het van meerdere kanten mag geloven. Wat betreft de kleuren, het valt mij op dat de ene het geweldig vindt en de ander totaal niet. Ik sta hier zelf wat neutraler in. De treinen rijden al wel 200, maar de dienstregeling is hier niet zo op afgesteld, waaedoor eventuele vertraging kan worden ingehaald, omdat er op een deel van de HSL wegens een brug waar wat problemen zijn langzamer gereden moet worden, mont dit ook prima uit nu.. Later wordt de dienstregeling ook aangepast. Er zijn vast wel ritten die iets eerder in Rotterdam of Schiphol zijn echter hebben ze daar ook een vaste vertrektijd waardoor de treinen hooguit langer aan het perron staan.

For the full fare peak tickets, yes. Off peak tickets obviously not and since a couple of months there are time bound tickets as well, however this is mentioned clearly on the ticket.

So much space is being wasted here compared to the far superior ICM. I do see some advantages: the new trains are more accessible for everybody, like diasabled travelers. I get why that's needed and it's supposed to be that way. The train is also very spacious, the power plugs are great and there's more space for luggage. But on every other aspect I'm just not a fan of these new trains. This train does have arm rests in the middle like the ICM. All the other Duch trains don't have that so I feel the seats are way to small for two people. It's not comfortable. I don't get why so many seats face each other. People that don't travel together don't want to face each other. It's such a weird choice. And the lounge seats are such a waste of space. It's just terrible. The mood lights don't work, especially when it gets crowded. Long story short, I agree with you :p The train does look great though. Everything looks so pretty and stylish. But in the end, it just should host as many passengers as possible in a comfortable way (we just want to sit and have some privacy).

@@Trainviking Late this year or early next year, you should get the chance. DSB will insert the new Talgo waggons on Copenhagen - Hamburg. The waggons will be powered by TWO!! Siemens Vectron in push-pull configuration. They will definitely not lack power. The reason is that Hamburg is very much congested, so in and out of Hamburg has to go fast. DSB have ordered "Steyrwagens" (don't know the English word), but since they were ordered much later, the push-pull function has to do so far. Here is a video from presentation, it is Kenny's video, only in Danish, sry.
