ROTTERDAM, Netherlands 🇳🇱- Summer Walking Tour - 4K 60fps (UHD)

Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands (after Amsterdam) located in the west of the country. The city is known for busiest port in Europe by cargo tonnage. The city of Rotterdam was rebuilt from the 1950s through the 1990s and has a modern image now with many high-rise buildings compared to the rest of the Netherlands.
We visit Rotterdam once in a while here on POPtravel. This walk goes for 10km (6mi) all around Rotterdam which is unlike any other Dutch city. On this videowalk we cover areas that we skipped on our other tours.

Rotterdam's modern architecture owes much of its existence to the unfortunate devastation caused by World War II. During the war, Rotterdam was heavily bombed, and the city center was virtually leveled. As a result, there was an opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to rebuild the city in a more modern and innovative way. In essence, the destruction caused by World War II presented Rotterdam with a blank canvas and an opportunity to embrace modern architecture, resulting in a cityscape that is both unique and forward-thinking.

Most of the tourists tend to only go to Amsterdam and neglect all of the other beautiful Dutch cities (like Rotterdam yes, but also places like Den Bosch, Groningen, Leiden, Nijmegen to name a few). It's like thinking England only consists of London. The Netherlands consists of way more than just Amsterdam.

Many tourists from all over the world come to Rotterdam. There is a large population of people from former Dutch colonies like Suriname and the Antilles. And some 26% with ancestors from Turkey or Morocco. But most people there are in fact European you just focus too much on the other.
