"Voltare"? For fuck sake, it's Voltaire one of the great French philosophers. And "who do they think they are"? Gee, I dunno, maybe one of the biggest black metal bands ever, the band that - more or less - singlehandedly created the Hellenic style of black metal? Damned, ignorant yanks.... Read a book!

I don’t understand what the big deal is. If we are uninformed, or don’t know something you do. Why feel the need to get all upset? Instead of just being cool and explaining it in a calm way? We might respect your opinion or knowledge more. I mean we probably come off as dumb to you. But your comment is coming off as elitest, and arrogant. Sorry I haven’t read books about french philosophy or black metal bands. Our sincere apologies.

Hello from Greece! I saw your video and your reactions/questions and i'd like to share my opinion being a fun of RC for many many years. Begining the music a quote from Voltaire is passing the message that religion is costracted by humans for humans so they can manipulate them easily to commit crimes in the name of God.(power, authority). The message throughout the lyrics is very clear putting ironicly the phrase ''Gloria Patri'' (meaning glory be the father) and ''κυριε ελεησον'' (god have mercy). I think in my oppinion that Rotting Christ gave us an album that manifestates the origin of selectin their band name as Rotting Christ ,meaning that religion throughout history was ,is and will be manipulative . A system that is made by humans and rotten by humans. Sorry for my bad english. Hail from Greece \m/

I cannot say enough positive things about Rotting Christ, they were the only band I was starstruck to see live... you guys are pretty spot on that this sounds like sermon metal, their songs all have a ritualistic feel and they have refined this to an art over the years; you can study or sleep to their music without feeling distracted by it "A Dead Poem" and "Rituals" are two great starter albums; check out "King of a Stellar War"!!!

"Gloria Patri" is a latin hymn meaning "glroy be to the father". Which in this case its mocking the song. And "kyrie eleison" is an ancient greek prayer asking the lord for mercy... have to love google! Great song!

Kyrie eleiso. Was used very much in the west. For. Example it is everywhere in Mozart's Requiem music work.

I came across these guys and Septicflesh (their fellow countrymen) roundabout the same time. As much as I like the true/norwegian black metal style I very much like this too and they have many songs that I have on my play list till this day. This song, The New Messiah, The Call, The Four Horsemen, The Raven, In The Name Of God, For A Voice Like Thunder, Lok'Tar Ogar, The Sons Of Hell, Phobos, Black Sabbath Cover, Aealo, Welcome to Hell. The list goes on and then there's Sakis Tolis' solo work

"Gloria" or " Gloria in excelsis Deo" is a old christian chant used like some others that you can find in the old Testament (no the band) to phraise the lord
@Trikipum5 жыл бұрын
Gloria it is like "glory" it is a religious thing..You should check "heaven and hell and fire". The guitars in that song will blow your mind up...Btw, what you couldnt name, it was harmonics, the lead guitarrist of this band is constantly doing harmonics....

rotting christ is great ! you should try some of their earlier stuff from their first album, such as "fgmenth, thy gift". they were still playing a kind of melodic black metal back then, but with riffs that sound closer to 80s heavy metal.

This song is very dark, it speaks of the ironic payment of the Christian religion to all believers and even so in times of burning, "Glory, Father" was heard while. The Kyrie Eilision is "Oh Lord, have mercy", an important prayer in the liturgy. The song tells you very literally, don't you understand? Hahaha
