WATCH CHRONICLER

4 жыл бұрын

In today’s video, I would like to present the Roue TPS, a watch inspired by racing in the 1960s and the chronographs of this era. With a price of only $290, this is one of the best value watches currently available from any brand.

Beautiful looking dial, the depth, the colour combo, top notch budget chronograph! After seeing this model I’ll definitely have to put this on my stocking stuffer list. I’ve been a fan of Roue’s entry into the budget chronograph market, the Dryden, Dan Henry line of Chronograph’s are all great choices but this is razor sharp especially in that blue w/ yellow accent colours. Thanks so much for the video! Well done !

Wow, really tempted by this, looks even better in video than in photos. You can tell that the owner is a lover of great design, he's really created something special. I have a Roue SSD, which is a great little watch, may well be adding this to my collection, too. Great review as usual, thanks.

I seriously consider this watch when there was just announced about a week or two ago. I really like the design. The choices of colors are really nice as well. The person you have drew me in first, but I have to admit I do still like the panda version a bit more. Perhaps it's because it is more versatile and something about the ways executed looks right to me. I like the brand, and watching your video really has turned me on to getting the CHR model with you reviewed quite a while ago. I actually purchased the Watch twice. Once in a silver dial panda, and the second time in Reverse panda with the dark gray subdials. The CHR one and CHR three respectively. As I was saying, I was tempted to get this new chronograph, but, I still I have already have maybe too many chronograph. I have a Hamilton intra Matic Auto coronagraph in the newer reverse blue Panda dial. And, I have a Seiko Giugiaro reissue chronograph that I custom modified. Additionally, I have a HKED Bundeswehr Chronograph on preorder. Roue certainly is one of the best value affordable racing chronograph to get. And I really like the styling. And I really like Dan Henry's offerings. In particular, I had really like the 1962 which I owned in the panda version which is basically like the UG Nina Rindt compax chronograph homage. I also think EMG has some very reasonably affordable racing chronograph options as well. And, Seiko, Orient, and Citizen both offer pretty nice quartz space racing chronograph options as well

This! I'm so sick of waiting for the major brands to make pieces like this. You'll notice when they do, they cost over $3000 and/or are too large. Micro brands just get on with it and do it for a fraction of the cost. Fantastic review!

They cost 3000 dollars because they cost 2500 to produce not because they just slap some arbitrarily high price onto them......when will watch Newbs like you understand. How would I know? I am an aerospace/manufacturing engineer who has also collected watches for the last 10 years.

Micro brand watches are able to produce watches like this because they skip many of the middle men in both the production cost and sellers/branding. Most microbrands aren’t even profiting until many many years after they release their first models. They usually have profit margins around 5 percent so are almost losing money selling you watches. That’s why most microbrands fail within the first 3-5 years because they must have capita to cover themselves and essentially lose money for the first few years.

@@burritomaker69 Woah there, triggered. I'm not a watch noob by any means. Although you sound rather naive in your estimation. A watch that costs $2500 to make would not sell at a mere $3000. If it's from a known brand with advertising, they would likely Mark it up significantly more. Perhaps more like +5000$. To help drive the point home, Rolex is said to make around a $2000 profit off of a piece selling for $7000, so we have to assume that after security and advertising, the watch itself costs much less than half of what it sells for. But my point was more about design and sizing. This Chrono has a fetching retro Design and good sizing. This is rare in automatics today.

Why is it so hard to find throwbacks like these with this case and bright colors like the actual racing watches from the 70s in a reasonable price range? I feel like a lot of big brands could make something very similar with a mecha quartz and the bold detailing and they would sell like crazy in the 150-300$ range

Got a Dan Henry 1964 evil panda but I leant it to my wife and she's still wearing it since it looks crazy good on her... (that beads of rice bracelet!). So I got me a Casio Edifice 40 mm panda instead. Vintage brown rally strap on it, it looks the part for very few $$. I was a full auto/mec watch guy once, but quartz in my collection proved to be so convenient. Very tempted by this Roue now. Excellent review sir. With love from Belgium ;-)

The older 60s and 70s watches look so much better than todays market and these hark right back to those days. One problem the blue one above which I own was difficult to bamboozle the wife with she spotted it a mile away. I just used my old trusted ploy of saying that she'd bought it me years ago and that I've just put a new strap on it. It was easy to get my black face white dials version past her. Bore them to death with your watches and keep swapping straps. She even thinks my Omega Speedmaster is a fake, because after showing her a cheap £20 copy on Ebay. I said I was going to buy one for fun....then went and bought a real one HA HA HAF A HAAAA.

This just might be my choice of watch to wear while drumming and playing hockey. I have been looking for a good looking quartz watch that csn take some hard use but is not a G Shock. The rubber straps on the Casios bug me. I have given them many chances. I appreciate the austere yet playful German design cues on the Roue for sure. Thanks! --Michael

Hi Jason, how are you ? A domed sapphire crystal would move the watch price to USD 450 and a flat sapphire would change the case design completely. The domed K1 crystal in this model is considerably more complex and expensive to make than the flat sapphire by the way...

Alex Iervolino say whatever you will Alex, I don’t care what your opinion about me is. You seem to forget that even Swiss watches (even the high-ends) contain a majority of Chinese parts, even the case, the dial, the hands, the bracelet. As long as at least 60% of the production costs of the entire watch is Swiss-based. The movement must contain at least 50% Swiss-made components in value (not in quantity) and at least 60% of the movement's production must be generated in Switzerland. There is no honesty in Swiss watch making, sorry to destroy your dream. I own Rolex, JLC, Tudor, Omega, Longines.
