I was in the process of installing the Rough Country 6" Slimline LED bars on my 2013 Tahoe and watched your video, I changed my 'plan A' and went with your approach. I am pleased with the install and glad I went with your plan. I did end up with alot of extra wiring , inline fuse, relay, on-off switch, etc. so I guess I will use them on another project. Thanks again

Thank you for video. Definitely feel comfortable tapping into my wiring after seeing how simple it is. What brand are the lights? And did you drill the holes in the brackets you bought from Home Depot?

Definitely a simple install. The light I got is from rough country but you get what you paid for. The bracket i made is aluminum and yes I got it from homedepot.

You should tap into your existing wiring.. you should wire new wires from the battery. To a fuse and relay.. and only use the reverse light wiring as a trigger to the relay...

They are just wire taps. If you google that you will be able to find it

Nice on my 89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I have round halogen lights on the roof. For the front. And four 4 inch pods on ny roof rack basket for camping to light up 360 degrees around my Jeep... but when backing up.. having 15% tinted windows... i cannot see ANYTHING.. i was thinking of installing the same pods on my bumper but i wanted something more hidden and not hanging off the bumper. These look really nice

I could of hidden them behind the bumper to show right on the floor but I don’t mind them hanging down

@@willsprojects2601 no i ment like those bigger square 3 row 4 inch pods look ugly hanging down.. I like your single 1 led better. In fact i just bought two 7 inch single row leds look just like yours. And some 16ga and 18ga wiring. I plan to run wiring to a relay/fuse box i installed that i have in my engine bay. The 18ga wire will splice into the existing reverse light wiring like you did.. except it will run to the relay in the engine bay. Which turns the relay on and will send power through the 16ga wire to the lights. This is safer than using existing wiring like you did. Especially on a 32 year old Jeep like mine. I dont trust running leds that draw say 15watts each off th3 existing wiring. They liked to undersize wiring back then to save on costs. I probly would still have done a relay like that on a newer car.. But yea.. again thanks for thr video.. i wanted to see how the single row slim led lights look for reverse lights. Vs those square pods people use which are too bulky

Yea I know what your talking about them pods. I had them on my old truck and after installing them I didn’t like them. I wanted to put the back up lights on a switch so when someone was tailgating at night I can flip the switch and blind them lol.

@@willsprojects2601 haha... yea with all the lights on my truck it looks like i have a zombie apoc vehicle. I dunno why but i like doing wiring and having lights.. soecially on a older lifted vehicle. Foturnatly i cant be blinded by brights. With my window tint at 10-15% and having an auto dimming rear view mirror it doesnt matter how bright ppls lights get. It adjusts for it. You should look into getting a auto dimming rear view mirror.. theyre amazing

Great video, am about to do the same thing to my truck. BUT you thin I can have to power wires to my led reverse lights. One from the reverse lights that ll trigger the light ON once I put in reverse.? And the other one with a ON/OFF switch.??? So I can use the light whenever anytime at night..??

This is great ! how are they holding up on that reverse circuit ? I was thinking use my wires to the 7 pin trailer connector. Do you remember the wattage by chance ?

I got the lights from rough country, the harness came with the lights. The metal came from home depot( it’s aluminum)

How does it look through the reverse camera? Got a 17 and can’t see squat through that camera at night backing up with just factory reverse lights

It lights up everything behind me. I have zero issue backing up at night.

Yeah I don’t get it. The whole point of me tapping into the reverse was just to get power to the lights when I kick into reverse.
