When Bastien came back with his Not So Sorry part, it was clear he was putting in work, but these battles show the true extent of his commitment.

I can only speak for myself, but I feel like for people who grew up on the Sorry video and the subsequent iterations, Bastien was THE guy. His parts from like 15+ years ago still hold up today.

I remember a contest in Marseille. Bastien was 14. Speaker called him for the children contest. He said: "No, I'm competing with the adults". Then he won the contest landing everything first try all day long. So much talent in this little guy at that age... Then he wrote history we know. Bravo Bastien pour ton parcours ! Tu es un génie ;)

When I was 13 I saw Jake Phelps & Benny Fairfax skating at the same spot as me in Moscow. I thought Benny was Bastien Salabanzi.. and i told Jake Phelps “hey im a huge fan & i love Bastiens part in sorry” he replied “thats benny fairfax kid” and told me to feel free to sit down and chill with them He was catcalling hot russian girls passing by, chilling, talking to me, making jokes and asking me about my home country. All while we were watching Benny Fairfax absolutely kill it at the spot we were at. One of the best days ive ever had as a skater. This was like 15years ago, i will never forget that day.

One of the best skaters alive. His trick portfolio speaks for it self. Nobody does the bigflips like him. Bigflips are a big stepup to 360 Flip and to improve them on lock like he does is next level. Also the double kickflip variations. Still next level this guy to the standards of todays skateboarding. And his wasnt constandly surrounding in america during his career. Its even harder to hold the level and improve it, when you have to do so much life-things beside skateboarding. Much love 🖤

Rough cuts are the best way to watch skateboarding, sometimes things can look a bit effortless in a part. But when you see how sketchy some of the attempts can be the makes just hit way harder. Bastien's Really Sorry part is still my favourite, was streaks ahead at the time. To this day everything he does on a board looks so crisp.

This is what makes skateboarding special the perseverance and dedication. Sometimes having to watch one try line or tricks are not fun to watch no offense to the consistent pro or ams. But watching the war on every tricks is so satisfying to watch. How i wish there was a rough cut videos for the Flip team back in the days.
