Krystal...I worked at Playland Lake in the mid-60's and later in the "Park". The building you were wondering about at the far end of the Park used to be a magic shop, selling all sorts of magic tricks & paraphernalia. It lasted for a few years, then became a souvenir shop until about 1967 when it close and became storage...don't think it has been used for anything other since.

My first ride at 1 yr was at playland. And now I take my kids. There is definitely less than there was in the 90s. However, kiddie land still has a lot going for it. More for small kids now than adults. Still love the nostalgia.

Krystal your always so much fun to hang out with and again I had a great time, now I will be perfectly honest with you I’ve never heard of Playland so it was such a treat to see what the park looked like and what they have and since it was opening day I figured a lot of thing would not be open or running just like you said, now a couple of things I liked about the park was that it had an old retro look to it and I love the location thanks again for the tour of Playland park also I will be checking out your videos of the park to see it in full operation mood and I look forward to the video when you go back this year, see you on the next video peace ☮️ out ✌️

Not the best opening day but it gave us a chance to see it. Maybe, they had computer issues, which led to the long line! I remember when you guys went last time…it was closed and you walked around! Thank you K !

It's been a long time since I been at Rye PlayLand and even longer since I been on The Crazy Mouse and I remember The First time I went on The Crazy Mouse I was very young and My Mother and I went on The Crazy Mouse and let me tell you even to this day THE CRAZY MOUSE IS STILL ONE OF THE MOST MESSED UP RIDES YOU CAN BE ON MEANING THAT IT'S FUN and FREAKING SCARY AT THE SAME TIME, WHEN THE CART TAKES YOU TO THE EDGE OF THE TRACK BEFORE IT QUICKLY TURNS IT'S MESSES UP YOUR MIND MAKING YOU THINK YOUR GOING TO FALL RIGHT OFF THE TRACK. And THE ICONIC CLASSIC DRAGON COASTER WILL NEVER STOP BEING FUN TO GO ON. You can go on The Dragon Coaster all Morning until closing time make that your only ride of The Day and walk out of Rye Playland still happy. ONE OF THE MANY GOOD MEMORIES OF GOING TO RYE PLAYLAND.

I agree with your view on the park. They are tearing out so many classic rides. Yet most of them aren't even getting replaced. Mostly due to them running out of money..... That's why Superflight still isn't torn down. They cant afford to get rid of it and buy a new ride to replace it.

I have to say I laughed most of the time with this video. You turned a not so pleasant experience into laughter and you tried positivity when you could. They should have never had opening day until they were up and running 💯. I love your enthusiasm about going back at a later date to give it another try! Great job and by the way I truly enjoyed your Playland video from 2021 as well. Thanks for putting in the effort and always telling us the truth about your experiences.

I would go there as a kid in the early 2000s and I went there last year summer of 2023 as an adult and let me tell you, it is not the same. It didn’t feel the same and the charm is missing. In the 2000s PlayLand was packed. I did see a lot of rides last summer that were under renovations and was going to open Summer 2024. We’ll be back in August 2024, hopefully all these rides will be open. I was bummed they were not utilizing the stage area, because they had so many good shows. I think maybe they don’t have the funds for the theater etc? They did get impacted a lot during the pandemic

As someone who went to Rye Playland as a kid, it's very sad to see the removal of iconic dark rides for boring flat rides. I really appreciate your example of how a small family park can be done right with Knoebels. I visited Knoebels in August of last year and it is one of the most unique parks I've ever been to. I 100% agree that Playland has so much potential, they really just need a better company to manage it, to give it the Knoebel's charm that it deserves. I really hope they bring back the original Airplane Coaster that was torn down in the 50s, because it was one of the first GCI style wooden coasters and was so interesting and unique, it was also a Church-designed wooden coaster.

I was at Rye Playland on opening day and I was not very happy that I could not ride the Dragon Coaster. I was not very happy that so many rides were not operating that day. I made the best of it. All and all, it was a very disappointing opening day for Rye Playland. I hope that there is not a repeat performance next year on opening day. UPDATE: I sent an Email message to the Playland management expressing my disappointment over the condition of the park on opening day when so many rides were not operating. They sent me a voucher my Email entitling me to one visit to Rye Playland at their expense. I returned there on June 28, 2024. At least I got to ride the Dragon Coaster and a number of other rides that did not operate on opening day. I hope that the management at Rye Playland learns from this experience and that next season on opening day that there is not a repeat performance where so many rides are not operating. Perhaps a review of operating procedures is needed to make sure that all of the rides are in good enough condition to be operating on opening day. The rides in my experience that often do not operate on opening day are generally the Log Flume (now Saw Mill River), the Playland Plunge and Ye Old Mill (sometimes).

I checked out Dorney Park and 2 times rides broke down while I was in line and the staff in general was just super slow. The lines actually weren't very long at all but it still took forever to get on the rides because the staff was just moving at a snail's pace. I left after a couple of hours cuz it wasn't worth being there anymore. 1 out of 5. Do not recommend.
