I think it great to get the kids accustomed to the plane and eventually a long trip. Patience shall prevail. I watched your trip from NC to Utah, and was amazed how well the kids were doing, now I see why.

You think having little kids is the challenge? I took my daughter up this year for the first time (she's 40) and she freaked out. She claimed she really wanted to go and as soon as we were off the runway she started screaming. I returned to the field and landed. We all got out and she insisted she was fine and what a great time she had in the 8 minute flight to nowhere. She was by far the worst passenger I have had in 500 hundred hours in the Cirrus.

FYI on how I fly with my family. I have a 2.5 year old and 9 month old. My 2.5yo its up front with me in a cheap booster car seat from Wal-Mart (www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Finale-2-in-1-Booster-Car-Seat-Flight/55704257). We have nicer seats for our vehicles but this thing is dirt cheap and lightweight... it's easy to move from airplane-rental car. I use a ratchet strap and secure it to the seat through the seatbelt track on the carseat and around the back portion of the seat. The plane has a 4 point harness similar to your SR20 so I couldn't figure a way to hold it in place otherwise. My 9mo sits in the back with my wife in an infant car seat. Both kids do relatively well but I would limit most flights to

You are to be congratulated for introducing the youngins to flight. You are a saint. I get nothing for recommending them, but check out Jet Shades to help reduce glare, solar heating and UV damage. We have them in our plane and they make a HUGE difference. They're easily removable (if you rent the plane or fly at night). Not exactly cheap at $1000, but well worth it. Get the $150 protective carrying bag to keep them from getting scratched. You might be able to get them at a discount at Sun-N-Fun or Oshkosh. Also, you should remove the CAPS cover before flight. You don't want to be fumbling around trying to remove it during a real emergency.

Ha! I remember when every flight with my kids included extended periods of inconsolable and nonsensical crying. It's good to stick with it though, just don't let it distract you. Looks like you did a good job of that on this flight. They get better as they get older. - Also, maybe find out if her ears aren't clearing. If she knows how to chew gum you can try that, or get her some water to drink. That helped us a few times.

Your kids look so calm now...its good to know you went through it too! I think I'll try to have her in the co pilot seat next time.

Becca and Dom have some pretty cool parents 😎. Been there. We use the adjustable/stretch suction cup screen $10. Walmart. (Which we left in the rental, not sure where it's at) Way to hang in there. Any thoughts about flying a six seater? Then Mom can sit in the back, feed/ change diaper/ read books/ play games... some day. I haven't been flying much. Trying to make the budget bigger to allow it. Looking forward to your next video:-)

Thanks Doug, definitely have to get those sun screens! Thought a lot about the 6 seater like the bonanza or cherokee 6 but they are pretty pricey to rent and the piece of mind that the cirrus parachute gives me is tough to pass up. I'm going to try to transition my daughter to the front seat so she can sit in the back with the little one. That should be interesting.... Thanks again for watching!

I think the infants are pretty easy to fly with. Our 7 month old just slept the whole time! I fly out of KLPR and KBKL. Mostly Burke lately, it's just so convenient. Where are you guys flying to?

Good idea to have a test flight locally with the kiddies, I think you should give the older child a go up front even if its a circuit or even a bit of taxying around, with your wife up back with the baby. Its only going to get easier as time progesses, Unless you have another. lol Good luck.

Thanks. They wont all fit in the back with the 2 car seats. You suggest having my wife hold the baby the whole time? I think putting my daughter up front on a booster might work but not sure.

Thanks for the video. My son is now forty-three, daughter is thirty-eight, each with two kids. Youngest grandchild is five. Not sure what to tell you, other than safety concerns. Your kids are rather small to either be controllable or understand the gravity of flying in a small plane. I guess I would be hesitant to take them other than a well planned one hop trip. It appeared that your intent was a stay current hour flight, which you were not able to concentrate to accomplish your goal.

My buddy who sat next to me at the Seattle Seahawks was killed with his wife in one of those small planes . I wouldn’t ever fly one of those with my entire family....

Just like you don't ride in a car with your entire family because entire families have been killed in cars? There's no rational logical thought in what you said. Go fly with your family and have fun.
@gbigsangle30445 жыл бұрын
The Cirrus is not a small plane. You are in far more danger in a Boeing 777 than the SR22 with it's all plane parachute.
@Ichibuns5 жыл бұрын
@@gbigsangle3044 While this person doesn't have very sound logic, yours is just as bad. The crash rates are still far lower in a B777 than any Cirrus airplane. Most fatal accidents are caused by maneuvers below the CAPS capability. It saves lives but saying it's safer than an airliner is not true at all. Keep in mind that fatality rates in the CAPS enabled Cirrus aircraft are twice as high the rates in the Cessna aircraft.

@gbigsangle30445 жыл бұрын
@@Ichibuns You are joking, right? Just in 2018 alone 16 airliner accidents killed a total of 555 people as of December 27, 2018. Since Cirrus starting making the SR22 in 2001 there have been 150 fatalities. In that time period. If you go back that far in the commerical airline industry you are looking at a death toll north of 7000 plus.
