I wish they would make more patterns in this series. Great video.

I would like that, there's plenty of other patterns I'd pick up if they did. Thanks Rusty.

I have this knife and it's a great knife. I process rabbits and general farm chores with it and it's well suited to those task. The muskrat pattern makes a great farm pocket knife. Start your day on one blade, switch out as it starts to dull and keep going.

That's it exactly. Thanks for the comment, Jack.

It has a wavy hot dog shape, really nice with those 2 big blades, thanks for showing, the blades without the swedging still look good.

Usually referred to as a serpentine handle. The clip point is a useful blade, no swedging required. Thanks Jose.

I like the Muskrat pattern for the long thin blades and handle size. It is much like a bird and trout knife with two folding blades. They work well for making small precise cuts.🙂
@skcamerican2 жыл бұрын
I really like the series because, like you said, you can try solid builds of basic patterns for a great price. And they’re good no-frills knives. But I don’t own a single one because, for just a little more, I can get something a little fancier or prettier. So I’m shallow. Lol. But a really smart offering from RR.

Yes, I agree. A folding Bird n Trout. I urge people to give it a try.

Thank you TK! The Rough Rider Blue Mule muskrat knife is a beautiful knife! Thank you for the video it looks fantastic! These are a great Christmas gift for anybody in your family or friend group it's just a perfect knife for such things and it's a nice knife for yourself also! This is a nice little pocket wrap! Have a great day sir

You as well, KJ. The muskrat pattern gets often overlooked, but at the end of the day even for a stockman fan, I must admit the utility and frequency of use of the clip point blade is undeniable. So why not have two.

Pretty cool little knife. Not the biggest fan of the muskrat though I have a few around here. RR's Blue Mule series is a great addition to traditional patterns, a 21st Century spin on the old fashioned workman's knives. I have the Sunfish in this style, and I ended up liking it way more than I thought I would. My only complaint is the lack of variety in colors offered, but that is a very, very minor complaint. Have a great Sunday, TK!
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
Yep, the color isn't fantastic, but just gives you no hesitation in beating it like a rented "Blue Mule"
@jelkel252 жыл бұрын
Only have one miniature Muskrat which is surprisingly heavily used. Don't like blue scales but really like the clean lines and unfussiness of this knife and appreciate a bit of brightness as harder to loose. A nice little purchase there TK!
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
I don't have many Muskrats, but it's a nice change-up from my typical carries. I do lean toward using a clip blade for a majority of tasks, but usually from a stockman or lockback.

Happy Sunday TK, nice looking Muskrat! So far I have only one Muskrat in my collection, the Frost / Steel Warrior Muskrat SW-122AB which is 3.5" closed length & has handles with artificial Abalone coated in resin. I must admit that the Abalone handle on this Muskrat is nowhere as impressive in its color variations & sparkle as my Queen City QC001 large Canoe

These are real basic, and not much for show, but they are perfect for being used as EDC beaters.

With the addition of this muskrat, you've got a nice group of two-bladed knives there. A sunfish for heavier work, a canoe for edc, and a muskrat for small game. Awesome! Thanks for the look at this one, buddy. I like that blue mule series. Cheers!

No swedge is one of the attractive features for me, as with the satin non marring finish for edc.

The swedges have been put on everything RR. Probably a way to save a bit of steel as much as they've turned to it.
@nitrorc4life12 жыл бұрын
@@ThriftyKaniffy maybe, but imagine the savings are nullified by maintaining the equipment that grinds the swedge. I'm OK either way overall though

I don't have a Muskrat and pondered for ages about getting one, as you say at this price its worth getting to see if the pattern is to one's liking, I have looked at the old Stoneworks version on Heinnie Haynes but never pulled the trigger, will wait and see how much difference in price between Stoneworks and Blue mule.
