This was just last month, the Big Sur part of the highway was shut down so we just had to detour around that area!

We did the same crossing from Canada to US. We almost didn’t make for our plane because of that. That was nerve wrecking.

Argh - how harrowing! I had a crazy experience going from the States into Canada. I was on a Greyhound bus - and they were doing "spot checks" two guys from somewhere in Asia and I were pulled. We spent HOURS in customs - while the whole busload of people had to wait. AND THERE WAS NO REASON FOR US TO BE THERE. After waiting forever, we were sent back to the bus. The passengers were angry and "not nice"to the three of us. I felt sorry - but hey, I was the one who'd had to deal with it. I've had other interesting border crossings in various countries - but that was the most nonsensical.

We did the exact same thing back in December. They really need an exit so you can turn around before the sentri.

Same thing happened to me coming home. They pulled me over and searched me for an hour. The guards put me into a room called personal inspection but I lucked out. Lol.
