I installed this on my 2013 F-150 STX, i did not need the Flag nut, these bolts on my model are both welded together by a small piece of metal. One you get the back nut into the bolt, put the Tow hook back on the rear, and install the front bolt.

bought one for my 2013 F-150 FX4, I did not need the flag nuts for what they're intended for (was able to use the existing bolts), and I also had issues with the control mounting plate... I found that it was too small for my control box (Harbor Freight bad lands 12,000 pound winch), I went with the badlands because Project Farm reviewed several winches, and the badlands came out on top... Anyway, I ended up drilling new holes in the bottom of the control box that line up with the mounting plate.

Quick question for the rough country guys; Do you have to relocate the solenoid onto the rad or can it stay on top of the winch the way it came shipped in the box?

It is best to keep it installed on top of the winch the way it came in the box.

My ecoboost had to have an air block put there to prevent it sucking in moisture during heavy rain (apparently this is a common problem), the guy at ford said that the engine is such a beast it will suck in all the air It needs anyway so this system might be fine.

Depending on your year, it might be worth a trip to the auto salvage yard to get the factory tow hooks (and bolts). They look (and act) tough and are worthwhile for a heavy pull especially if you are using a snatch block. YMMV

I just installed this on my 11 f150 today. When wiring the winch it says not to go directly to negative terminal. Where should I ground it. Also what post is best for positive side of battery? Can I hook to the post inside the fuse box?

I have a 1" leveling (suspension) lift on my 2012 F12 FX4 and Rough Country says it will work but NOT with a >BODY< lift kit. Apparently this changes the height of the fairlead opening relative to the bumper.

Are we not reusing the dust shield that was bolted to the third bolt position behind the tow hooks? Bolts for the mount plate are the place where the dust guard went.

I have a 2014 F150 4x4 with V8 5.0. Is there any particular reason why we are not reusing the dust shield or air dam like shomalu is referring to? I was able to put mine back on after the installation of the hidden mount and 12000lb warn winch. My opinion it looks better with the air dam.

It wouldn't be advised. The intercooler needs as much air as it can get in order for the truck to be as efficient as its supposed to, and if you block it with the winch mount and roller fairlead then it wont be able to get the air it needs. Plus the intercooler would be in the way anyway.

All we offer for a 2000 Ford Ranger is a 1.5" leveling kit. We don't offer any other accessories for that make and model.

A leveling kit will raise the front of your truck's suspension up to match the rear, eliminating rake, and thus leveling the truck. This will allow you to fit more aggressive tires on your truck. I would contact Badlands regarding the mount.

STFU with your safety. Using air tools just makes it a whole lot easier for the mechanic. You try cranking wrenches for 10 hours a day, see if you can even lift your arms after the first week...

Poor video from the ones who make the part. Watch another video and you will put this together easier. You don't always need the flag bolt and you can reinstall the dust shield. Don't discard I like these fools tell you to do. Would be nice not to have to go online to have paper instructions. How cheap can you be?
