An ending fitting for the start
You twist and tore our love apart
Your light fingers threw the dark
That shattered the lamp and into darkness cast us
No, you've got it the wrong way round
You shut me up, and blamed it on the brown
Cornered the boy kicked out at the world
The world kicked back a lot fuckin' harder now
If you want to try
If you want to try
There's no worse you could do
Uh oh oh
I know you lie
I know you lie
I'm still in love with you
Uh oh oh
Can't take me anywhere (I'll take you anywhere)
Can't take me anywhere, (Wouldn't take you anywhere)
I'll take you anywhere you want to go
Oh, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me now
Have we enough to keep enough to keep it together?
Or do we just keep on pretending
And hope our luck is never ending now
You tried to pull the wool I wasn't feeling too clever
And you take all that they're lending
Until you need amending now
If you want to try
If you want to try
There's no worse you could do
Uh oh oh
I know you lie
All you do is make me cry
All these words they ain't true
I can't take me anywhere, I can take you anywhere
You can't take me anywhere, I will take you anywhere
I'll take you anywhere you want to go
Oh, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No, you can't stand me, no you can't stand me
No oh oh
You can't stand me now
Oh oh oh

I am a 60 year old and still love music and Pete Doherty is probably the last living proper rock, roll, punk, legend of a singer before political correctiveness took over. God bless you Pete Doherty - legend

Christ - Ive come back to visit this song after all these years. I spent time with him on the tour bus with Babyshambles scoring for him and after checking I found out Petes still on the gear and I came off it years ago and have 2 kids a house married and off to bed at 9.30. How I wish he was okay and I wish him well. At least he's still alive!

I was there the 3 nights on the Trot, definitely in the top 5 gigs I’ve seen. I recall them debuting last post of the bugle , the riff ripped the roof off . If it wasn’t for the drugs etc - & no judgment there - the libertines would of ruled the world for another 10 years easily

I remember that time when I went to Düsseldorf mainly because of their concert, it was in 2014 for their reunion tour. I admit that at the beginning I was a little bit worried about Pete behavior, as it was not a great year with Babyshambles, but than I had to change my mind as soon as the band showed up on the stage. They had been so fucking good and, damn it, how much I enjoyed that night! This song is one of those which I can keep listening over and over again and never get tired of.

This song keeps me sane, it always has me singing along in agreement with the lyrics; as apposed to "emotionally cutting myself" with other kinds of music....
