Likely the last race for me until October. Opening a new business in August and going to be super busy the next 2 months. Fun race today at Rivers Edge. Pretty choppy rough and technical course. Lot of off camber, roots, rocks, rock garden creek bed, hill climbs, motocross track, you name it this place had it.
It was hot and humid today. The course was slicker than ice as it poured rain the night before and this dirt is a hard pack red clay base layer with a small amount of top soil on top. C riders moved most of the top soil out of the way during the morning event.
I had a pretty poor start but ended up getting into the woods in 5th place. Quickly made a couple passes and took over 3rd. Made 2 more passes and took over 1st about halfway through lap 1. Held 1st through lap 1 and about halfway through lap 2 Tim Good and Zach Daniels both passed me putting me in 3rd. I tried to latch on to those guys and pace them but I just could not keep up. They were too fast. I held 3rd majority of the race until Carlton Davis made the pass towards end of lap 3. I really did not want to give 3rd place up so I found a second wind and pushed hard to pace Carlton. He had such a good race and really made me work hard for it. He went down in the rock garden creek bed where I got back around him. He rode my rear tire all the way through the finish finishing 1 second behind me but I was able to salvage 3rd and another podium.
