Join us as we make round bale silage to feed our cattle through the winter! Watch the process from cutting and raking the grass to baling and wrapping. We'll also show you the challenges of finding storage space and the steps we took to create a new, hard surface for stacking. Plus, see how we repaired the farm track for easier access.

great work and loads of bales you can only work with what you got and you make it work well

@@richard3008 thank you for your comment. We do make approximately 1800 tons of clamp silage. With the messy weather this year the grass has grown away from the cows Zero Grazing) so we have baled it instead. We are on with third cut clamp to make up the difference.

Why would you use round bale(rs) over square ones?

Hi. It’s just our local contractor only has a round baler. We have some bad access fields too. We would prefer to put it in a silage clamp too but we just don’t have the space. Thanks for your question

Brilliant video, I don't think I have seen as many bales as you have. Nice to see the fly traps are working so well. 👍👍

@@yorkshirefarming Why don't you put a silageclamp on the dirt? We don't do it anymore but in the past when we didn't have enoufh space we made a pile on a dry grassfield. When we fed out the groundclamp we used a "u cutter" (a machine that cuts block's of silage) and put them on the concrete once every 5 days. I realy hate bales we try not to make any at all.

@@boerstevenvdv I agree. Bales are a pain. We have quite wet land and putting clamp silage would cause runoff into the river. This is a big problem in its self. Your suggestions are good ideas. We need to alter the pits we have to improve storage. Thanks again for your suggestions 👍Richard
