Thank you for providing us all with the service that the BBC once did. What quality and atmosphere. Entertainment rather than re-education.

Wonderful how profound subjects could be examined in a sober and interesting way. A serious book can be brought to like with a superb cast. What a break from the shallow 'issues' based drama we have to endure now.

Very well done by the BBC to condense the book into 90 minutes of radio, although Connie Shaklin didn't sound like that in my head when I read it first 40 odd years ago. Thank you for uploading it.

Thank you for posting this. An excellent production of this superb novel. Nevil Shute wrote beautifully plotted stories, compared with so many shallow shoot-em-ups that are churned out today.

Superb high quality product. Really enjoyed listening not just the tale itself but listening to something of historical importance. The language was fascinating after being spoon fed pre digested content from mainstream media, Definitely for adults only. Our 'Hero ?' Will protect his employees from racial slurs but is happy to grossly underpay them ? I think most of us long for better times but those Romans etc. Do not want anyone rocking the boat. Love this. Thank you all responsible thank you.

Thing’s don’t change do they, people still fear anything different to themselves, rather than respecting different ways of being 😊

Someone should re-issue this novel as "The Fifth Buddha." Would be a great film with all these classic old planes.

Exactly! The dying man expressed 2 wishes: 1) that his friend and his sister get married and 2) his followers not deify him after he's gone. So what do the 2 people who claim to care about him the most decide to do? Exactly the opposite.
