They are two distinct types of rounders the irish form with a long bat and the english as seen here with the small bat

I would hardly call baseball an evolution of rounders. Maybe similar in that you hit a ball and there are “bases” but baseball is like a dynamically different game

Baseball didn’t evolve from Rounders, they shared a common ancestor probably. Baseball is a bit closer to British Baseball than Rounders. But yeah baseball is the better game, but nobody is playing rounders professionally or watching it, it’s just for kids mainly

+Ahmed Hegazi I read up on the rules at www.simplerounders.co.uk/rules-of-the-game/ and it says you can use two hands if you want, not sure if these are official rules though.

What happens if you stop at 2nd or 3rd, I know you get a half rounder, but when you continue running again and get past 4th do you get another half rounder or? And what about people who stop at 1st?

If you stop at 1st 2nd or 3rd you get half a rounder but ONLY if you get to the 4th rounder. If you make it to the 4th rounder in ONE go then you get a full rounder. If you don’t make it to 4th in 1 go then you continue running as soon as the bowler throws the ball Hope this helps but I’m not an expert on rounders xx

The Irish version of rounders is even closer to baseball/softball.... After all baseball appears in the US north east just after the irish famine sent millons of irish people to North America. Long two handed bat, 9 innings. Looks almost like softball and vintage baseball.

I hadn't played rounders for something like 40 years, not having played since being at school in the 1970's, I used to enjoy it. In the meantime as an adult I've developed a liking for cricket (See my channel). As a consequence both my sons grew up with cricket and still play. When they were younger 11 and 13 we all got invited to a kids party where one of the activities was rounders and we all ended up on the same side. I think the opposition (The family whose party it was) were rounders aficionado's, the Mum was a PE teacher or something, but they didn't seem to take in account how cricket players might approach the game... We took up what we saw as key strategic roles. (1) 'Bowler' (2) catcher/backstop (3) 1st base. Instead of lamely throwing the ball through the vicinity of the batters arc - we whizzed it through using the age old lob bowlers techniques from pre-over arm cricket days e.g. using Clarrie Grimmets 'Flipper' technique to put top-spin and back-spin on it. We also adopted the Baseball approach where the primary intention was to get it through to the back-stop - cricket style quickly releasing the ball to first base in one smooth action. They didn't stand a hope in hell - we won, I don't think any of them made a rounder, in fact I don't think any got to first base! Is there something in the rules that says you can't whizz the ball through at varying paces with spin?

@Avirah GEORGE It would be more exciting if the players had some sort of gloves. Sometimes its an achievment if a professional player just hangs on to a ball. wicket keepers have gloves and the batted ball can have more velocity than a pitched ball.
