It would be amazing to ring there. Its just the acoustics that let the bells down!

Accoustics forever a problem but probably best heard halfmuffled as here. Different filming pov. great - well captured. Superlatives galore - bell frame; windows; sights and sounds. Thanks.

I’ve never heard half muffled ringing at handstroke before.

They are muffled on the backstroke. The bells are left at backstroke between ringing sessions.

What is that? I mean I know this is change ringing. But why I hear the bells when they roll backwards? And can't I hear them when they roll forward? I mean forward I hear no echo. Only backwards I hear a echo

As each bell swings there is a clapper which strikes against the bell the make the sound. This video shows half-muffled ringing. One side of each clapper is covered with a leather pad. As the bell swings in one direction the metal face of the clapper hits the bell and the sound is loud. When the bell swings in the other direction the bell is struck by the leather pad and it makes a quieter sound.
