Friday | 15 March 2024 | 15:30 PM - 17:30 PM (IST)
The global labour landscape, driven by technology and shifting demand, witnesses digital labour platforms reshaping employment. In India, the gig economy burgeons, with 7.7 million workers in 2021 projected to triple by 2030. While enhancing productivity, concerns arise regarding decent work and fair competition, especially for blue-collar workers. GIZ and CUTS aim to address these challenges through initiatives promoting fair competition and quality jobs. This joint roundtable discussed the regulatory status, capacity-building efforts, labor laws, competition laws' role, and policy solutions to enhance gig workers' rights and working conditions in India and globally.
