I have the same car. I usually carry a lot of wood so I’m unable to fit the light bar on the roof rack as it would be in the way. Do you think it would be possible to fit the light bar between the roof rack and the roof? Thanks for the video by the way very useful 👍
@chrisandshazza015 жыл бұрын
G’day Damo - you’re a better man than me mate, I used the same harness for a light bar set up on our daily runabout but did it a little different........I hooked everything up under the hood, turned the light bar switch on then secured the entire harness including the switch in the engine bay - has been like it for two years lmao. Maybe one day I’ll get round to running the wiring through the firewall. Awesome light bar👌. I’m pretty sure though where I am (cockroach country), it’s illegal for lightbars to be mounted on the roof due to it being a truck hazard (light hittin the truck before you see it). I read you received an email from Ford asking you to rate their service - that there Damo is your bargaining tool for your tub liner. Ring up the service manager and just say straight up - ‘how can I rate your service with an outstanding issue, if Ford have no plans of fixing the issue I’ll fill the survey out now’. A bad report regarding service is not good for the dealership. A service manager told me how it all worked and the last thing they’ll want is a bad report - use it to your advantage. I will say that personally I’ve found Ford to be fantastic over the years with customer service. Literally they’ve gone beyond the call for me at times and I think you’ll be right with the right attitude and the right ‘hint’ about the email. Given you’re a higher end customer they’ll wanna keep you happy, they’re not gunna let a tub liner spoil relations mate - I’d be very surprised if they don’t come to the party. I dug out our old VHS recorder tonight from the garage and watched our old Cape York trip from 2002, I can’t wait to get out amongst it again. Definitely lookin forward to your trip anyway mate.
@RoundTheFire5 жыл бұрын
😂😂 Chriso you are a bloody legend! To be honest, wiring up the bar and leaving the whole harness in the engine bay was exactly my first thoughts too 👍🏻 but as you pointed out it’s not legal in some states to have a light bar mounted on the roof without the ability to independently isolate the light from within the cab. I generally don’t like to have a roof mounted light bar ‘on’ for highway driving as the glare off the bonnet can get a bit annoying for the eyes. Mostly I use the higher mounted light for the bush, particularly useful in deeper water crossing and tall grass scenarios where everything is over the bonnet. Cape York is hands down my favourite place to be, If I won the lotto that’s where you would find me. This is my first Ford after a long history with Toyota, I’m not overly fussed with how they are handling everything so far and of course working permanent nights I don’t generally get the chance to follow up on things during ‘normal business hours’ 👍🏻

I have a st3k for my wildtrak.. The only issue I had is connecting it to the highbeam. Since I don't want to drill a hole into the dust cover. I routed my led bad to the fog lights. Other than that the stedi light bar is absolutely best bang for your buck.
@RoundTheFire5 жыл бұрын
Gday Paul, what was the go with needing to drill in to access the high beam? This is my first time using STEDI lights so it’s good to hear from someone using them.

@@RoundTheFire good day sir, the connector for the light bar is for the hb3/h15 connector plug. Since my headlight has a sealed oring cap. I dont want to drill a hole into it or leave it open. So I routed it instead to the fog lights which is a h8 blub and it's just in the open. (but stedi is now offering a piggy back connector for the head lights (highbeam h15/hb3) no drilling needed. Hi mate, some great videos bud 👍 I’m in the uk (spent a year in a straya a few years ago) I’ve just bought one of these bars to go on my ranger and will be fitting it this week, one question I have for connecting to main beam is that it’s a sealed unit and the connector is inside ( I swapped the halogens out already and put LEDs in) but there a plug outside is does that connect to the plug inside the sealed head? I assume I connect the piggyback to the plug on the outside? Hope that makes sense? Cheers

Hi again Damo. Your Raptor is definitely coming along nicely mate. Did you consider getting the rhino rack specific brackets from Stedi that tuck the light bar underneath? Did you think the light bar was advantageous sitting above the roof rack? No judging just interested as I will be doing the same thing very soon. I think the lightforce panel will be a great addition as I too have been struggling with switch locations. Thanks for another great video mate.
@RoundTheFire5 жыл бұрын
Gday Nathan, cheers mate and welcome back. I did buy the STEDI brackets to fit the bar underneath the rack but after a few test fits above and below the rack, I went with above. Going below the rack certainly cancels out a lot of the wind noise generated by the rack and is probably the the sensible place to mount but at the end of the day It purely came down to the “look” as I’m going to be mounting tools on top of the rack I felt it gave neater lines. The switch panel is a great idea, it has 3 blanks which allows for up to 6 switches to be added. I like it a lot. 👍🏻
