My jaguar is my baby amd I myself dont use the vibrato but the second you mentioned that flaw my eyes went right to my jaguar and of course both E strings ends are clearly laying directly over the mounting screws... here I am again learning something new about my guitar even tho it's an object I have my hands on daily more than anything else... your skill and attention to detail is bar none sir keep up the good work you are without a doubt nothing short of a off set wizard...

And now i actually understand the effect of treble bleed. think it also explains what i thought was a dead pot in my gretsch jet, master volume also has a parallel bleed and also only cuts volume right at the end! might have to look at removing it! :)

Great video! Always fun to see what you're up to. While on the subject of pot taper, do you have a personal preference on audio vs. linear? I'm wanting to piece together my own wiring parts and I've seen conflicting opinions on which to use. Some guys like audio for everything and others only use audio taper on tone. Just curious. Thanks!

Oh man! I put a parallel treble bleed in my Jazzy and have had the same problem with the pot taper. I’ve been scratching my head as to what to do. Thank you! Gonna try this. Also fully agree with your sentiments on Deep Sea Diver and Jessica’s guitar playing.

I have a white American Original JM, very light weight. I fought hard to find it. Anyway, I’ve had it for 18 months and the best thing about it, to this day, it sounds better every single time I pick it up. It is just unbelievable how magnificent this guitar is. I did replace the brown pickguard with a red one. It’s beautiful, too.

I just soldered the wraps on all my strings for the first time last week due to unraveling issues on the high E, was curious about your approach to this issue! I have noticed that the high E on a few of my guitars makes contact with the bolt underneath it on the vibrato which is almost definitely not helping.

Amen. For period reissues, no treble bleed I is perfect. But for modern designs every volume pot needs a treble bleed! I go further and add a filter bypass to my humbucker coil taps. It gives the split coils a really nice tone, closer to real single coils

Quick question.. what do u consider the classification for a nut width to be skinny? My dad just gave me a 70s Cortez strat made in japan and the head stock and nut totally caught my attention mainly becuz it plays smd sounds amazing amd the neck is totally slimmer then my jaguar making it the first strat I can even enjoy playing anyway the mute width is like 1.5 inches that's very slim for strat guitar standards right?
@Puisheen
@Puisheen 2 жыл бұрын
For me, anything 1 5/8" or less is skinny. 1.5" is the '60s A-width from Fender, which I have on my CFM Jag. That's pretty slim!

Puisheen (or anybody with the knowledge): How is the quality of the Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Tremolo Unit vs. the cheap stock one that comes with the Squier guitars? Is it a lateral move? Is it better and does it come closer in quality to the AVRI? Want to upgrade my squier jazz. Thanks!
@veitchy88
@veitchy88 2 жыл бұрын
Unless you specifically need a unit with a thread in arm rather than a push in, I’d say go for a AVRI unit. The Classic Player unit may be a slight step up, but the AVRI is an appreciable improvement.
@notapplicable328
@notapplicable328 2 жыл бұрын
I just bought a fender player jaguar (not the classic player so it may be different) but the stock trem that came on it creaked and popped and was just in general really bad. I replaced it with an American 60s repro trem for $60 and fixed those problems. Just a heads up i also had to go ahead and change the bridge because the build quality was so bad that everything on it, every saddle and adjustment screw rattled like crazy. Just a heads up. Other than the metal hardware, everything else on the lower price range fenders works very nice, but you may need to invest into replacing some parts.

Why add solder to the string wraps? Surely single set of strings lasts only a few shows, so the jazzmaster needs multiple sets over a tour?
