Vivaldi. The Four Seasons. Summer. Presto. I often see people comparing Vivaldi's music to metal, and this is perhaps the best example of that as the raw power Vivaldi captured in this iconic movement is unparalleled. In the accompanying sonnet, there is imagery of a thunderstorm and it's hard not to visualize the lightning strikes and hail falling when listening to this piece. I hope you have a great Monday and rest of the week ♥

i started this piece when i was around 10 years old, and grade 3 abrsm. naturally i couldn't play a song at this difficulty, but i made it halfway and managed to memorise it by grade 5 abrsm (so i was 11 turning 12 by then). schoolwork took me away from this piece throughout grades 6 and 7 abrsm (i was 15 when i took my grade 7 abrsm test because i dropped piano for a while to focus on guitar and saxophone), but i was back onto it by grade 8 abrsm when i was 16 and finally finished it and learnt it by heart by 17 but the month before turning 18. throughout my journey of learning this song, there was one particular piano teacher out of many that stood out. my number one supporter when every other teacher laughed when i brought up the piece to them when i was still grade 3 abrsm. i remember she absolutely adored vivaldi. yelena markov passed away last year. her family invited me to play at her funeral and though it was quite a sad time, her son came up to me and told me how she would tell him every night after helping me learn the piece how she couldn't wait for me to complete it. i chose to play summer by vivaldi not only because he recounted those nights, but because yelena really was the pleasant summer everyone needed in a cold winter. yes, the song is a bit aggressive, but everyone at the funeral knew how much the piece meant to her. in contrast, her lovely daughter played winter by vivaldi as the body was lowered into the ground and although the song is playful, she managed to convey the most emotions through it. yelena was with me ever since i was 3. i watched her glimmering gold hair fade into a shiny silver. at 20 turning 21, i'm certain i'll never forget that beautiful woman who loved everyone around her dearly regardless of their treatment of her.

People talk about how this is a unrealistic summer but it makes kind of sense. Considering historically in many places summer has been considered the end of the good times, the beginning of winter, the beginning of winter, etc. Its a time of excitement but also fear of things such as sickness that is common in the summer, heat as well. I mean nowadays heat and sickness is something that we can deal with because of modern technology but back then and even farther in the past it was terrifying. The passing of time and the falling of growth from spring is what this represents.

Guys, I did it!!!! It took me few months, but I can finally play it😭Honestly, the best moment was somewhere 1/3 throughout the way, when I first made it sound with the correct rhythm (that s a bit of a challenge at the begging). And of course, the first time I played the whole piece the way it’s supposed to be! Honestly, that was a great challenge! Of course, there’s always room for improvement, but it’s a first “serious” piece I’ve learned from scratch as an adult (things felt much easier when you are a child, constantly practicing and going to musical school😄)). Anyways, good luck to everyone trying to learn this right now, as it turns out, it’s quite possible)😊

Hi Rousseau, I want to congratulate with you because I'm a pianist too and I play lot of the classical pieces that you published, and so I know how difficult is to do them as precise as you do and how many days of hard work there are under a 7-8 minute of performance. I also appreciate your kind of videos template because in this way is more evident the difficulty of the piece and the agility that is needed to all the notes on the keyboard. For this particular piece I would have preferred to hear more your right hand which, in my opinion, is very dominated by the acconpainment of your left hand. Anyhow, as usual it was a perfect performance! Thank you and keep it up!

For some reason this piece sounds like someone drowning. There's so much raw emotion in this single part of the concert that it's hard to process my own feelings. It's like I want to cry but at the same time I'm not able to.

It's actually easier than i expected to be , like seriously you just need to practice and boom you did it. But for a violin it's a different story.

I got the sheet music as a gift from a friend. I once told him this is one of the hardest piece and the one I can’t play. I remember, I practiced it like crazy and was able to play most of it perfectly in couple weeks. Some parts took me longer than usual ngl
