Back with a redo of this arrangement that I completed back in 2016! Route 216 is probably my favorite route in Sinnoh - taking in the sight of the first snow route in a Pokémon game after exiting Mt. Coronet on your way up to Snowpoint City was such a sight to behold as a kid. Seeing your footprints in the snow and hearing the unique crunch sound, man, those were some great memories.
This arrangement is one of the first redos of old covers that I've uploaded to the channel for the Year of Sinnoh! I've done a few other redos of some other tunes, but I haven't uploaded some to KZbin (yet) - unsure if I'll be uploading them at all or just putting them on the final Year of Sinnoh album. I really really liked my old arrangement of this theme, but I wanted to see what I could do with access to a few more instruments, as well as my improved audio production skills since 2016. I'm really happy with this end result, it was so much fun getting to blend lots of different timbres in this arrangement. I'm particularly pleased with the opening statement of the melody after the intro, which is orchestrated for flute, alto sax, tenor sax, cup mute trumpet, and harmon mute trumpet. All those timbres just blended together so nicely!
You have notice that I'm in a different location that usual, and that's because I've moved! Since I graduated from the Berklee College of Music back in May, I've been out of school, and have been itching to move somewhere that's more suited for my at-home music making, especially during this social distancing era. I'm currently in the same house that I was when I started my channel, but in a completely different room! My dad and I swapped offices, so the small room with the blue walls that was formerly my music room is now my dad's office, and the big basement is now my music space! I'll be doing a studio tour once all my gear arrives and gets set up (still waiting on my studio desk!) - very excited to show that! For now, I'm really happy with this space, and excited to get to create music without restrictions here!

This is probably my favorite song from D/P/PT, I have such a vivid memory of when I first heard it. I was about 8 years old, I was sitting in this little nook behind our couch with some pillows and blankets at night, and I had always struggled with these games because I was never quite sure where to go, I even restarted my save like two or three times prior because I thought I was stuck haha. But I finally made my way through the caves for the first time and ended up in this beautiful snowy canyon and it honestly felt like a dream, and this song just added so much to that experience. I still get chills when I hear this song, no pun intended. Thank you Carlos, you did a pristine job, always excited to hear more! :)

I do not think you could have done this better than you did right here. The complexity is through the roof and you used the timbres of each instrument and amplified the feelings they create to paint this picture of a winter in a modern world. The changes and transitions were also done perfectly and went very well with the structure of the piece which also tells a story in winter. The Sleigh bells were used in the right spots to ease you into the feeling in winter but did not distract and you came up with more rhythm patterns for it than just eighth notes which I have seen others do with sleigh bells. The Electric Piano solo did not have too many notes and chords but all of the right ones were played in the right order too. The Brass and Woodwinds could not have had a better sound and octave jumping on the piano was also done perfectly(especially at the end). Overall well done with this arrangement and this is one of your best ones yet and listening to your others, that is saying a lot. Thank you for this, I would like this a thousand times if I was able to. Also the electric bass is back yay.

I love both covers of this song, and if I were remake dppt, I’d actually use both of them. The original cover would be put over route 216 and Acuity lakefront because one can appreciate a little less going on before and after the storm. Route 217 would get this, still the same song but with the full cast of instruments giving a grander feeling for battling through a blizzard. I imagine a seamless shift when walking into a different area would encapsulate the lengthy journey that is traveling from just one city to another in a gen iv game. This is great work man!
