Operated by Sullivan Buses from South Mimms
Recorded on ELV5 (Ex-London United VLE25)
Many times have I attempted to ride on a double-deck on my local route, the 298 - there being one almost every day. However, by the time I get to the stop, I always am disappointed to find out that the double-decker has been subbed with a boring Enviro200!
Not this time though, as this double-decker wasn't going back home on my watch. As it wasn't raining, a perfect time to do a visual on my local and beloved 298. A couple of kids and their mum were wondering why I was filming the bus - now they'll see why.
The kind driver let me on at the stand so I filmed earlier than the usual start. I even got on for free!
The 298 doesn't really warrant double-deckers, though a frequency increase to every 15 minutes would be welcomed, especially in the peaks. These double deckers are usually seen on the 298 after working school route 626. I hope to see some Scania OmniCity buses on this route soon (they run on routes 692 and 699.)
This one turned out perfectly, though bloody typically, someone tried to call me in the middle of recording. Thankfully it was at a bus stop at Southgate Station, so the jump isn't too noticeable.
Next, I attempt to do my other local route - the 313; so leave that one for me please, fellow visual recorders!
