It was only for a few miles outside of Chicago but I did drive my 73 caddy Hearse on Route 66. So that counts I’d say. I also Took a very memorable road trip from here in Boston to Alabama and back in my 55 Belair. As well as making the Bean town to Bama trip several times in my resto rodded 76 fiat. The first time I took the fiat on that trip I didn’t fully relax and start to believe that I was really gonna make it until I reached Chattanooga.

I've got a 58 Fairlane in the barn, the 57 caught my attention. I've done a 2400 mile road trip in a diesel Chevette, no problems. A 10,000 mile trip on a Harley back in 91. None of these compared to a friends family (5 people) making a road trip from Atlanta Ga. to an Army base in Alaska in 63 in a 6 cylinder 3 speed 61 Biscayne. He said they were on gravel roads long before thay left the U.S. and then all the way across Canada then through Alaska to their destination. Old cars would get you where you were going, otherwise the

I love your videos Kristin&Ethan! Watched all your extra good videos on driving line. I'm into car restorations too, have two projects at the moment. Would like to connect with you, if it is possible. Thank you for honest and high-quality content.

Have I been on Route 66? I was born in March 1960 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That's on 11th Street. Which is on Route 66. I'm tempted to say I've been on Route 66 more time than you've been alive, but it's probably not true, although it could be close, since for the last several years I've been in an apartment just a few yards off 18th & Boston Ave. and my sole vehicle a bicycle, a very large majority of my destinations are on or close to 11th Street. Yeah, I've been on Route 66 a lot. The "Mother Road" was created by a gentleman living in Tulsa, Cyrus Avery. It was championed by Avery when the first talks about a national highway system began. Tulsa has contributed it and much else that is notable. Leon Russell, JJ Cale, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys favorite venue, Cain's Ballroom, well-preserved Art Deco architecture, Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa Ballet Theater. Mickey Mantle was from Commerce, just up the Route a little way. There's a lot more, but my hands are getting carpal tunnel.

Man I miss driving my 57, it's a super basic Custom. It's rusty as all hell. I used to drive it with it's 292 and 5 speed. The rear main was superrrrrrr bad so I parked it in order to install a 312 with 6x2 and the same 5 speed. She has hydros front and rear with a triangulated 4 link in back. I miss her 😢 Life got in the way and its been like 15 years. I always had the 312 ready to go. I should be ashamed .

No better time than today to make steps for progress! Get that '57 back on the road :)

@@DrivingLine I agree. A few weeks ago I pulled it from it's slumber in order to get crackin' on it. I have two vehicles getting big jobs done on them; a Cummins rebuild and last night my lil pickup blew it's 5 Peugeot p.o.s. 5 speed up. The '57 sits again.... not forgotten.

Hey brother, I don't think seat belts would do a whole lot of good while going over a cliff🤣🤣🤣
@michaeljustice37452 жыл бұрын
If you did all that work to the engine why did it use a quart of oil every 500 miles

It’s a used motor. When I put it together I did not rebuild the bottom end. I just freshened up the heads. Plus long duration driving burns a lot more oil.

No finer 57 than the Ford . That’s why I have a gasser style fairlane 500 2 door hardtop . Seen that 57 and boom clicked on it like a moth to the light bulb.
