What a fabulous place, Dave. And probably an amazing trip when you do it on two wheels. Though I think I'd be wanting one of those fancy Goldwings like TMF 😂

When crossing the U S years ago, a friend suggested stopping in Williams, Arizona-50 miles south and taking the steam locomotive 🚂 up to the Grand Canyon. From there you boarded a bus which took you to 3 viewing points all on the South Rim. Getting a motel close to the station, I could wear more civilian clothes to be much more comfortable on the day trip. Worth every $$. I met tourists from many different countrys including from the U S which is the size of half of Europe combined. So many sites- so little time.!! Do what you can, life is short. 👍👍

Another great video Dave. I first went to the Grand Canyon in 1987/88 at 23yrs old... backpacking around the US. You did your best to capture the sheer breathtaking vista but nothing can ever compare with seeing it in front of you... as you said it truly is breathtaking... this massive hole in the ground..just stunning.

I totally echo your sentiment. You have to see it in person. 😮

I was there in the mind 90's. Technology has improved massively but no tech can capture it for what it is. It's just off the scale. 100% a tick list thing.

A vastly overused word in the USA is awesome, it drove me mad whilst I was over there. But when I got the Grand Canyon there was truly only one word for it - Awesome, you can’t beat nature
@TheMissendenFlyer16 сағат бұрын
Enjoyed that Dave - took me back to my first experience of the Grand Canyon, takes your breath away doesn't it!! Since then I've been lucky enough to fly myself over it in a Cessna, land in it in a Twin Squirrel helicopter and on another occasion get a personal guided tour by a taxi driver who turned out to be an off duty Park Ranger! Next time you're in the area give Sedona a go - also stunning, but for different reasons (obvs).....
@WheelieGoodTV13 сағат бұрын
Ah wow, that’s next level stuff Andy. I’m pleased my two feet were on terra firma for the day. Another startling figure I heard that day was that there are fifty deaths a year from people posing for photos too near the edge! Come to think of it I might have been safer in a light aircraft. Hope you’re having a great Chrimbo. 😉

Absolutely sublime filming & scenery, Dave. Great following your journey. Was there in 1994. Mind blowing 🤯 place. Was fit enough to run to the base and back. 🥵. Won’t be doing that in a biker suit 😂. Harley pic is awesome. 💪🙏

I rode there a few years back and took a helicopter flight over it. Spectacular to say the least.
@neilurquhart862219 сағат бұрын
Me too, our helicopter flight was ‘interesting’ as a warning light came on and we were forced to make an emergency landing on the other side and wait for 30 mins for another ‘copter to pick us up! My wife refused to fly in one again, even in the Canadian Rockies. Both flights equally awe inspiring 🚁🚁

Hi Dave - subscriber to your channel here, from Tucson, Arizona USA. Love your videos… especially appreciate their high quality and your commentary. IMHO you made a great choice going to the Grand Canyon. But Sedona is also an unbelievably beautiful place and drive, so next time, I’d strongly recommend you put it on your list (from Flagstaff take AZ-89A / Oak Creek Canyon and then AZ-179 Red Rock Scenic Byway). In fact, in Arizona we have many, many incredible places to ride (one reason I live here). Las Vegas is great too, for nightlife, food, shopping, great entertainment, etc., but during the day, IMO it doesn’t dazzle, so a ride to see during daylight might disappoint. I need to also put in a plug for my beloved southern Arizona. Visitors so often go to the Grand Canyon and Phoenix areas, and don’t make, or have, time for the south. Tucson (Catalina Highway), Sonoita, Patagonia, Sierra Vista, Tombstone and Bisbee have stunningly beautiful drives too. Best wishes and thanks for creating such enjoyable content.
@WheelieGoodTV13 сағат бұрын
Wow, I wish we had spoken before I left for that trip! In hindsight I’m pleased I didn’t opt for Sedona as most of our group went there and said it was so packed they couldn’t even park their bikes so came back to the hotel. 👌🏍️
@seankantorow291011 сағат бұрын
@@WheelieGoodTV Yes... the town of Sedona can be crammed with tourists, especially on weekends or when the fall foliage attracts them. But the ride there and back from Flagstaff is stunning. I'd suggest passing through the town of Sedona and stopping in Oak Creek Village or going to Cottonwood. These are both small towns adjacent to Sedona, usually not overflowing with tourists.

Done the canyon twice, both times on an old train from Williams, where you get a cowboy show before the trip and `robbed` on the train ride back by the very same cowboys 😂. If you don`t like the twisties on the Harley you probably would not enjoy the ride to Sedona, it`s a long way down and back up again, although a very pretty town.
@WheelieGoodTV13 сағат бұрын
I LOVE the twisties on a Harley. It’s the only excitement that bike has. The show sounds amazing! As I keep saying, I’d love to spend longer. 👌🏍️

Belated Merry Christmas to you Dave. Loving the series. Quick question. I have exactly the same helmet as you’re using in these videos. Where have you mounted your DJI mic 2? ( I’ve got that as well) Couldn’t see it when the helmet is flipped up. All the very best to you and yours for the new year. Stuart.
@WheelieGoodTV17 сағат бұрын
Hi Stuart. For this series I used a hard wired DJI lav mic taped on the chin area inside the helmet behind the camera. It was one less battery to worry about charging. 🎥👌
@dontomlinson336418 сағат бұрын
good choice. the half hour to sedona would have been the best ride but you would have been rubbing metal parts on that bike. if you take all the fake,glitzy tourist crap you've seen so far and multiply by a thousand you've got las vegas..i'll bet there are more fatalities from fools taking selfies on the edge and out of shape hikers having heart attacks than air fatalities. i flew through the canyon many years ago after riding down the river on a raft for 10 days and since then standing on the rim and staring out is almost disappointing. glad that you enjoyed it and i'd sure love to ride in ireland someday.
