Rosalind Russell is one of the most famous actresses of the 30’s-40’s. She co-starred with Cary Grant in one of the most well known slap-stick comedies ever, ‘His Girl Friday’. Definitely a film you’ll like!

Justin, Great video! My family and I have been through the EL Rancho several times. However, we’ve never stayed there. We’ve always been headed for Flagstaff or Williams in Arizona. Thanks so much for showing the inside of the rooms. We might just try that next time through.Keep up the great work and have a safe trip.

I used to run the Arizona charter of the Southwest Ghost Hunters Association. Most of our investigations were in Tombstone, but when we moved to Prescott I was seriously hoping to check out some of the older buildings here and along 66. Never worked out (some of the businesses here are incredibly hostile to ghost hunters), but your video had me thinking about how much I would have enjoyed investigating up there.

There is someone working in the room across from that mirror downstairs. Watch at 15:25-15:35 when you’re talking and panning down hallway you can see reflections in that mirror 2-3 times. Very fast

Another great video!! Thank you for taking the time to create these awesome "travel log" videos(and your other videos). They remind me alot of my childhood. We didn't go to fancy resorts, we went to small town places and camped or rented a cottage. PS...When you got to run the train at Knott's was great!

Nice to see your travels on Route 66. Haven't been in New Mexico since the 1970s when 66 was still a main highway. From the knife shop I can tell it was a Stuckey's Store from the shape of the building it was one of my favorite places to stop at . They had quite few of them in the US and mainly along route 66.

Justin, great video of an AMAZING yet creepy looking hotel! Rosalind Russell was an AMAZING beautiful and talented actress who was mostly famous in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She's best known for her role playing opposite Cary Grant in "His Girl Friday" which is an excellent film that's often credited as the inspiration for the TV series Dragnet. Actresses Loretta Young and Irene Dunne were her best friends. I found out about Rosalind Russell's career 17 years ago when I was researching the film careers of Loretta Young and Carl Switer ("Alfalfa" from the original Little Rascals cast of the 1930s and 1940s). Alfalfa had "blink and you'll miss him" bit roles in their films appearing as an adult, and so my being a biographer of his for a time i fell in love with those beautiful ladies while trying to spot Alfalfa in their films. Trust me. You'll love them.

16:51 So true. I stayed at the National Hotel in Nevada City (Northern California). The outside and inside lobby/bar looked charming, historical, and had old west decor. I felt like I stepped back into the 1880s. However, when I got a room it was disgusting. Old worn out 1960s furniture, smelled of mold and cigars, noisy because the walls were thin and you could hear everything your neighbors said and did, food was pricey yet medicore, and the staff was terribly rude. It really turned me off from ever staying in a historical hotel again.

When we watched this vlog, you talked about feeling weird, spooky, well two times during filming we saw weird things ,one at 15:25 on the left down the hall it did look like someone was sticking it’s head out from the door or wall. Also at 19:55 there was a strange arm behind your shoulder and it wasn’t your reflection, weird..... Big fans Veronica and Todd

I'm glad you noticed the vents in the doors. Those vents are how to get the cooled evaporative air in and out of the rooms. Circulation is key for evaporative cooling. Unless the hotel has made the major upgrade within the last few years, I think they are still using the evaporative cooling, and those door vents are still beneficial.

I stayed in El Rancho one night in 1976. I'm not sure my story fits within your theme, but it might. I was opening a one-man photographic exhibition in the community room gallery of the Gallup Public Library. Having invited some out-of-town guests, I rented a room at El Rancho, just in case. The opening proved a little under-attended and disappointing, so I over-inbibed on a punch bowl full of margaritas. Unable to drive or return home (about 60 miles away), I crawled over to El Rancho where I lay my head down for the night. Ah, celebrity . . .

The prime reason I subbed to you is because you did a video about hannibal Missouri ! I live there. The best reason to visit is it was built in 1937. The best reason to stay somewhere else is it was built in 1937! The rooms are drafty and cold in winter, and never cool enough in summer. Still a neat place. The El Rancho IS CLASSIC! It is worth stopping for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Food IS EXCELLENT! When I travel, I like a swimming pool and Hot tub. I guess I'm kinda picky that way. So I stay elsewhere?
