an interesting exploration of a vintage kit, don't be so hard on yourself, despite the issues you had I think it looks good :)

Great stuff, and I did watch until the end. I really want to build the Revell Routemaster, being a Londoner I travelled on them daily growing up.

@Slycockney I was going to add a story into the video, but I didn't know how to fit in. Basically, the RMs were being withdrawn whilst I was still travelling on busses daily. I didn't really care about busses as a teenager but acknowledged they were leaving and I'd probably regret not going on one. In those pre-smart phone days I arranged a detour on my route to get on an RM... it turns out that was the first day of that route using bendy busses! I have of course, since been on RMs at Heritage events, but j missed one in revenue earning service by a single day!

I hate humbrol clearfix, it just doesn't seem to work!! So I splashed out on some crystal magic, a much superior product and well worth the extra expenditure!

The reason for the third axle and excessive amount of wheels is because this is half a parts tree already found in Keil-Kraft/ScanKit's range of semi-trailer trucks from the late 1970s-early 1980s. For that reason, I'll venture to say that this Routemaster tooling is from the 1980s rather than 1968. I'm also quite certain that, not only this kit was made in Denmark, but it was also designed there by a company called Heljan. Back in the 1960s, they made a series of danish-themed building kits for use on miniature train layouts, before becoming a "model maker for hire" from the 1970s onwards. They tooled and produced some kits for Revell Germany, and A LOT of building kits for american companies. I've dug out a couple of kit boxes - american office buildings in 1/87 - by "International Hobby Corp." of Philadeplphia, PA, from my stash, and despite the completely different subjects, there are some similarities including the "Made in Denmark" thing, and less obvious, the same kind of parts tree reference number.

@whelx28 integrating, but I don't think it's correct. This release is from the 80s, but the parts are identical to the LT red release by Keilkraft which is absolutely from the 60s (old magazines will confirm this). The tooling has passed to UK firm Knightwing, who have released it more recently

@@VFCproductions I don't have access to old british magazinees, unfortunately. But I've now dug out my ScanKit Volvo truck kit, and the wheels part tree is the same as the Routemaster kit, only with more wheels and axles on it. I now have an account on Scalemates, I'll probably post some box contents pics there.

I think you did an excellent job, considering the age of this kit and the old directions. Clear Fix is crap too.

@barrythatcher9349 after the issues with this I will definitely be finding a replacement clear glue

@@VFCproductions Same here. I saw in the comments below mentioning Crystal Clear. Might give that a go.

Hi, you are too harsh on yourself yes it’s not an A1 finish but could it ever have been? Certain issues were not your doing and it seems lack of informative instructions worked against you? I enjoyed your add ons I thought they really helped, one issue I really don’t follow your choice was the window glue. It was clear they wouldn’t be clear, now surly you will need some anti fogging glue so why not buy some now!!!?? That is the most obvious issue the model has……… I would have also made the paint work more glossy as thats how such were on the streets. A really good idea. Thanks Bob England

@BobMuir100 thank you. I had a vision for this kit and it started going wrong so I am disappointed. I am pleased that I at least persisted to the end and I will absolutely be getting some better clear glue as a result of this kit. The finish could absolutely be shinier, although I'm never sure how glossy to go in a model. I also chose a fairly pale colour that better represents a faded finish. I saw red ones in London growing up and they were always the most battered busses on the streets!
