You are brave…I’d be worried about a squirrel sighting!

It's one of my favourite things to do! I've figured out how to control him when he sees a squirrel, cat, or another dog!

If I did this my husky, we would need to be followed by an Ambulance.

oo! I was actually just thinking of making a "How to rollerblade with your dog video"! I find rollerblades to have more freedom than bikes and skateboards because the dog can run anywhere they want around you. I've tried rollerblading with some other dogs and it's noticeable that the dog needs some practice too, so do some very easy areas first. Slush knows he can hurt me, but other dogs don't realize this. I'd say when you see any kind of distraction that could result in your pup pulling you at a speed you don't want; shorten the leash and tug it (will have to be harder tugs at first so they understand) while saying anything you think your dog would respond to. Some dogs need treats, but Slush prefers being talked to. It definitely is the most unpredictable thing, even when the dog is good at it! One other very useful thing is keeping the dog in their lane. It's really hard for a dog to pull you sideways on wheels, but its super easy for them to pull you forward. I'd recommend to move over to the other side of the road/trail and let your dog pull you forward until you pass it. If worst comes to worst, its your weight against theirs. I luckily haven't had to do this, but swerving into grass and jerking my dog to the ground is my plan in a dangerous scenario. That same scenario would be harder on bike or skateboards in my opinion. Lastly, if you can learn rollerblading without the brake on the back, you'll have an easier time stopping in various scenarios because you can go backwards, or turn in different ways that the brake would normally get in the way. I'm passionate about this :)

@@SlushTheHusky brilliant thank you!! Keep the videos coming i absolutely love them! 😁 ive only ever crashed once on the bike as we were going down hill, i caught up to him and was telling him to move over but he got confused and slowed into my wheel but i think it was more my fault than his 🙈 luckily he was unscathed and i was worse off 🤣 is the bungie leash and harness better for control than a normal leash and harness?

Alannah Clement thank you so much!! Oh no I’m sorry you fell downhill, that sounds scary! I’ve only biked with slush once, he treated it like rollerblades so I haven’t since haha. If a dog makes a mistake, try to make sure they know it wasn’t a good thing. As well as praise the good behaviour!! The elastic leash thingy really helps me when Slush pulls for regular walks; the dog feels the resistance before you do. I really like to stop on blades by doing a 180, and using the leash with it is surprisingly easy. You just swing your momentum. I actually practiced the 180 swing by attaching the leash to a pole first. The elastic leash makes it even easier!
