Only problem with Phorid flies, however, there not too picky when it comes to the food they find. My complex has a nasty case of the little buggers and anytime I'll notice them dipping into my rice or going for my coffee and even myself at times, mind you I'm not weak or dying either. They just go for anything that gives them moisture and something to lay their eggs on.

@AxlChimes Of course, because there is moisture and bacteria in those areas.

@AxlChimes True dat. Unlike other gnat species they're resilience is nothing short but extraordinary. Surprisingly, it's the intelligence of the flies we should praise at times. Right now, the little buggers are nesting near my stove--why? Harder to reach over to clean and more secure.
@TheMightyN2 жыл бұрын
@AxlChimes The living window is a regular hotspot to hold a colony--crack openings between the window's jambs and rails, moisture (from the rain) seeping into the sash and sill, and dirt/dust are basically the compounds to a suitable gnat environment. Phorid flies frequently would fly on my window to locate one another to--you know--pass the buck? But they would also retreat to their nest inside the walls. So I'd usually spray down the window to incapacitate their ability to fly when they aren't plummeting to their "deaths" to avoid capture. See, these flies are terrible at thrusting their wings so they'll try scuttling or jumping out of danger from a spray or hand respectively. In fact, that's where the nickname "Scuttle Bug" came from. My first infestation was all over the place from the bathroom to the kitchen. Actually this comment is posted around the time of the first infestation. Ending of Summer 2021, I located the first colonies hotspot in my closet (see what I mean?) Therefore, sacrifices had to be made; I sprayed my closet of clothes, blankets, and bags and managed to kill the majority of them. Eventually, the first group either retreated or died out but you'd be lying to yourself if knowing a little on insects infestations.

They also say "Fruit flies are the only one attracted to sugar" Wellll, why's phorid flies coming to my freaking Monster energy drink THE SECOND I open the can?
@Lilxt073 күн бұрын
@@TheMightyN how did u get rid of them forever? should I get a pest expert to gas my whole apartment in that fog? I tried with RAID cockroach and ants into my drains in the kitchen, there maybe thousand of them on my ceiling. Next morning, not as many on the wall but many next to the kitchen sink. Makes no sense, why would they go there after spraying. Now I used RAID against Flies with Eucalyptus and used up the whole can in the kitchen and hallway (I have open space apartment/flat). Now I see about 10 of them in the living room and saw 4 of them in the bedroom. Are they that smart and quick to relocate in other rooms? I did have filth in my kitchen after I had a flood from some pipes in the building.. but cleaned the best I could. Also is the RAID Fly spray dangerous for animals? I got two pets

Phorid flies are like tasmanian devil from the cartoon... they move super fast and they are not afraid of anything... They even dont fly away most of the times i shoo them, but they keep running D: Ultimate opportunists
@briannamckinney2112 Жыл бұрын
The phorid flies in my house must be a mix breed of fruit and phorid fly. When I spray Lysol, they fly away immediately. But, they come when I open my Monster energy drink and try getting inside, like, the monster energy drink has a lot of sugar. Which you would think would attract fruit flies, right? I smashed a phorid fly that tried to get in my drink and they always come the second I open the can. And I look at their eyes. They're black eyes -_- not red.
@zerooneonetwothree1872 Жыл бұрын
@@briannamckinney2112 Interesting, the ones that bullied me definitely had red eyes, but its funny that you said that about the energy drink, these red eyed ones dont show interest in a wine when i drink it or beer, even tho in my country they are called wine flies 🤔 I also noticed they are very rude, they land on my nose and when they start running on my face, i can really feel it and its spooky, but if you shoo them, they just make a circle and come back ._.

@FooBar Maximus Me and my neighbor have this issue. We're in attached condos. It's a nightmare. They're everywhere. What was the source of their breeding? It has to be in sewage or dead animals -

Absolutely, there are distinct differences between the fruit flies and phorid flies, but they are still often confused for one another by many. Proper identification is crucial for effective pest control!
