Great video on Special Developments, model 1 or SD1 .I love these car's with the Ferrari 365 GT Daytona styled front end, this was an amazing car from Rover in fact well my opinion the nicest looking Rover ever built. The 1976 to 1981 early car's were nice but I prefer the 1982 face lift with longer wrap around bumpers a lip spoiler and a deeper nose which were produced till end of 1986 but there were exceptions on special order you could get one up until 1988 mainly the police. I have been in so many SD1's from a 1982/83 ( Y-reg ) white 2000 base model which had all the gauges including a rev counter 5 speed manual fitted with the wheels off the "S" model also a 2600 SE 5-speed in metallic blue ( B-reg ) and driven a 1982/83 ( Y-reg ) Vittesse 5-speed , what a sound of the Rover V8. The SD1 What a car amazing. I have enjoyed this 1983 Austin Rover brochure it's been good . I do have the Austin Rover 1985 Brochure in my collection of brochure's and old car mag's . Great video take care🚗🚗🚗👍

I had a black v8 manual. Loved it. Was just a kid when they were launched and couldn’t believe how good they looked.

Nice looking car. As a kid in the 80's, got a Corgi model of Rover 3500 with Triplex decals, and still have it. Haven't seen the real Rover SD1 here in Finland, so that model was always a bit mysterious car to me :D

3500 Vanden Plas EFI in Moonraker blue with a grey leather interior and rear headrests and automatic transmission would be my pick. I had plenty of experience with the SD1, my Dad used to break them for spares in the late 80s and 1990s before they became a desirable car. I could cry about all the lovely Vitesse and Vanden Plas cars I saw broken up for spares.

The 80's SD1's were a much better proposition than the unreliable lousily built rust-prone 70's SD1's, but after the disaster of the 70's, people were too put off too much to buy new ones.

I don't see anything about the Vanden Plas EFI. Did that come in 1984? George Cole drove a Vanden Plas EFI when he played Giles Lynchwood in "Blot on the Landscape".

Yes you could get the Efi in the VP but came after this brochure in 1984.
