Thanks for doing a review on the tool and giving a perspective. I love these tools for cheap beaters and they do work well for some unusual situations. You're right about the axe, it's effective only for chopping twigs you could probably break with your legs. It is pretty good for batonning though. Here's a small list of lightweight tasks that I've found it useful for. Battoning small /medium pieces of wood, chopping plastic pipe straps, cutting hard wire, varoius wedging or prying tasks, various types of lightweight hammering, thin sheet metal peening, slag removal, chopping through chicken bones, beater knife, pipe reaming, makeshift chiseling, abusive screwdriver tasks, dirty or abusive tasks you wouldn't want to subject your leatherman to. The stainless used is not the harder premium type, but the softer type means I can use it in rain, mud, dirt, salt, or other corrosive environments and not really care. Just rinse it, forget it, and it's ready for more. I did grind one tip of the axe a little though. Didn't like it poking into my palm as I used the folding implements.
