"CITROËN HYDROPNEUMATIC SYSTEM This distance learning pack is aimed at all technicians that service Citroën hydropneumatic vehicles.
There are two videos, each with their own workbook, which should be viewed in conjunction with the relevant technical manuals.
This the second, "Working on the System", shows how to carry out various servicing and repair operations. It is split into sections covering the following topics:
1. Precautions
2. Source and reserve of pressure
Checking levels. Fully de-pressurising the system. Changing the LHM fluid. Bleeding, and pressure testing the system.
3. Suspension
Checking and adjusting the ride height. Bleeding the system. Checking the gas pressure and recharging a
sphere. 4. Brakes
Bleeding the brake system
5. Steering
Overhauling a pinion control valve"

I had no idea these actually shared the fluid between the suspension and brake system. It would be nice to have brake fluid that isn't so aggressive on paint.

Its well designed. It also feeds the servo. Its not as hard to work on, you just need to be careful to not lose the plug and the little ball on the pressure release. Just one half turn is enough

unlike a conventional brake fluid, LHM is not very aggressive, it is very similar to a mineral motor oil, it is also very insensitive to humidity. However, its periodic replacement is required. an LHM must be green, translucent and clean... any other state indicates that there is a clear negligence of maintenance, fortunately very often it is made up for.

the adjustment of the heights of a hydron… a logic that has escaped many speakers... with lamentable results... many having in fact tried to adjust the height by adjusting the manual control!!! it is first necessary to adjust the normal height of the road with the automatic control (the control of the corrector by the anti-roll bar), without the manual control having any potentially parasitic influence (hence the loosening of the ends of the linkage) . only then can the manual control be adjusted by correct positioning of the extremities in relation to the automatic control AND the car being at the correct normal height. the manual control works as a forcing of the automatic control, its adjustment is therefore very important so that in the normal position the manual control does not have any influence, that in the low position its action is total to allow the switching off total pressure of the suspensions, so that in the semi-high position the car is not yet on the travel stops, and so that in the high position it is resting fully on the travel stops. the tools presented here for the xantia facilitate the operation but you can very well do without them, as long as you understand the principle of the operation
