If you're anything like me and always on the look out for new, high quality and truly 'cinematic' music-for-film, this is a pretty big deal. There just aint enough of it out there. So it's definitely worth checking out his material on Artlist, and keep an eye out, as there's more amazing stuff coming! If anyone wants a BTS for this video production, let us know in the comments. Ta!

The shots in the dark are really nice. I always thought VLOG in the dark was bad on the GH5 whihc was why I've always stuck to Natural but VLOG looks really clean in the dark. Do you remember what your ISO was at during most of these shots?
@RoweFilms Жыл бұрын
Yeh I've never subscribed to the idea that you shouldn't use Log in low light. In my experience it tends to come from those that perhaps aren't that experienced using it, and therefore any additional perceived noise scares them. However increased noise is basically caused by underexposure, rather than any particular picture profile. Sure a log image will always look noisier than standard profiles before it's processed, but that's just because the log curve retains info in shadows that wouldn't be there in standard profiles. Provided you're correctly exposed, once the image is converted and graded, noise isn't an issue, even in low light. With standard profiles, the camera is effectively doing internal processing that you could be doing yourself in post. Therefore I never use anything but log (except when shooting RAW) because I want to be in complete control of all elements of the image and have maximum flexibility. For me there is zero benefit shooting in a R709 picture profile. The key to it is just understanding lighting conditions and knowing how to properly expose. I can't remember exactly what ISO I was shooting at, however with those scenes a lot of thought went into what time of day to shoot it, and how to balance the bright flare with ambient light. For that reason, it wasn't actually completely dark when we shot those scenes. For example, exposing for the bright flare made the surroundings appear a bit darker than they actually were which was all intentional.

@@RoweFilms thanks for taking the time to give me that knowledge! I shot a few weddings prior but since then the GH5 has been just for personal fun use. So I'm more of a just a hobbyist and in no way a colorist or videographer. Anyways, I head to japan in a week and so I've been contemplating whether to get V-LOG L because I like to shoot slow motion 4k60p (8 bit - no AtomosNinja). And so having done my research alot of GH5 users like to stay away from 8bit and low light specifically in V-LOG. Videos like yours and many other great content on youtube make me feel like I'm missing out on the full potential of the GH5. Although, since I'm just getting back into this stuff and most of my shooting will be run and gun I'm leaning towards Cine-D. I hear its the halfway house between Natural where details are burnt in and V-LOG with full control. Thoughts? I'm bringing my gimbal but probly not my SmallHD monitor. LOL i don't think it would be proper etiquette for me to have a monitor/gimbal in most touristy spots of Japan 🤣Thanks again for spreading knowledge! Keep inspiring 😁

@@ChessBoxin No worries mate. Yes I think CineD sounds like it might be a good option for you. It could be a good halfway house as you say. Best of luck and have a great trip 👍

Amazing video, I have seen several panasonic filmmakers, but you guys are on another level. Your channel is filled with amazing videos like this. The think that separates this channel from the pack is the consitency in which you guys can deliver amazing footage. I know you are using Rokinon glass, is it the Cine DS series by any chance?

Cheers Marco really appreciate that mate. Glad you enjoy my content. Yeah that's right, the cine range. To be fair I've not been using them quite as much lately having invested in some nice vintage glass, but they're solid lenses and I'll be holding on to them for sure.
