Thank you so much for this pattern/tutorial! I just finished making it and it looks sooo adorable! Your explanations were so clear and easy to follow. I’m gonna be making more of these, I’ll try with bigger yarn I think it would make a very cute plushie for older kids too!

Made my first one last night. Should they literally fit in the palm of my hand in size?

The tentacles have somewhat loose stitches from the chain 35. Will it still be approved by the NICU people ?

These would be wonderful for children in the emergency room also.

what a great idea! I have seen them in nursing homes for memory care patients as well. They have so many great uses.

love these and was asked to make some. My concern is that if they lay next to the baby, the head may get near their mouth and cause suffocation. Same with the teether one. What do you recommend?
@butfirstcrochet Жыл бұрын
I strongly recommend these only be used in the NICU while the babies are monitored 24/7. If these are being used at home then it should be under adult supervision only. Babies should not be left alone with them nor in the crib while sleeping.

Additionally, it’s so important to make the stitches right so the head can be stuffed to capacity. This helps with the octo to “roll away”. Hope that helps 🥰

So I know you give these away for preemies, but how much would you charge someone if they wanted to buy it? I'm new to crochet and never sold anything like this before lol
@butfirstcrochet2 жыл бұрын
I sell them as well. I started out selling them for $20 but have since increased my prices due to demand. Take a peek on Etsy for prices. They range from around $10 to $25

You can get a closer look by expanding the picture on the screen by putting your fingers close together and pull apart diagonally.

Each rnd increases by 8 until you have 40 sts.

Why is there a need to crochet soooo tightly?😊
@butfirstcrochet Жыл бұрын
Great question, the tight stitches help with keeping the stuffing in and allow the octo to be washed frequently without breakdown.
