Michel Martin’s interviews are outstanding. I hear her on NPR and am always so engaged by her astute comments and questions as well as by her appealing vocal quality.

I hope Roxane *never* stops sharing her opinions _(which may likely become difficult if Trump wins)._ Without a variety of worthy opinions contributing to consensus, there's no democracy; in this context, silence cowardly serves the dark side.

13:10 due to the decline of critical thinking people have lost the richness of nuance. It’s the difference between binary thinking a light switch and quantum thinking/computing… where you would be adjusting your perspective after weighing the differences- such as the war in Ukraine and the Israeli War, completely different. Death and Destruction is the thing they have in common.

I've wanted to be an anchorite, even before I knew what an anchorite was. I've known it since the age of 10; probably younger than that. But it wasn't until this year - when I'll be 70 - that I realized that the online world is my community and that the internet is my window to them. I live in an anchorhold. Amazon, Audible, FPL, IRCU, and especially sites like KZbin and Facebook, attend to my physical and contemplative needs. Google begins my journey to find the questions that need answering and the answers that need questioning. I'm not the wisest person, but I spend my time in wonderment and curiosity. Idk if I'm the first or the only, but I'm an anchorite with a sensayuma and because of it my life is enriched.

The fact that your response to an intelligent discussion is to body shame the participants, tells a whole lot about you.

Ad hominem means “against the man,” and this type of fallacy is sometimes called name calling or the personal attack fallacy. This type of fallacy occurs when someone attacks the person instead of attacking his or her argument. Insulting someone who disagrees with you is a strategy for someone who feels like they are losing the argument. Hurling an insult is meant to hurt the feelings of the opponent who is then expected to give up. Here's something a little more intellectual that you might enjoy. c. 1600, Latin, literally "to a man," from ad "to" (see ad-) + hominem, accusative of homo "man" (see homunculus). Hence, "to the interests and passions of the person." Originally an argument or appeal to the known preferences or principles of the person addressed, rather than to abstract truth or logic.

17:48 may I soon have my say in the spotlight? …for all the good it does to put one’s thoughts on paper, live stream to a void or audience, when will what’ve got to say do more than be “heard”? Two claims and a court of law. This is Italy. These are allies. We’re friends with benefits and we swap one bad contract for another. Is that how we better culture and society?
