best voice ever. never there will be another like this

This is really something to behold. In 2017, a press conference with actual press. You can hear the camera shutters clicking like crazy, along with a translator. What LA metal band (other than GNR, or previously, Motley Crue) is enjoying this kind of attention nowadays? There is very little audience and attention for most of those bands nowadays, but it looks like WASP is alive and well in Europe. This is very cool.

you make a very interesting point - I have listened to black metal and thrash and I always thought Blackie had the most truly 'wicked' voice ever heard not just because of the sound but because he had real dynamics, articulation and you could hear his lyrics clearly and he sang in tune.

Music has changed, the energy is still there but channeled differently. To be honest, the lyricism has elevated a great deal, far more than anything Lawless ever wrote tbh. Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Weekend, etc all write deep lyrics. I"ve been a metal fan for a long time but don't close your mind to other forms of musical expression. Labels do not dominate the industry anymore like in the 80s and 90s.

I wouldn't go that far. But in all honesty, I would prefer to see them in smaller venues but that's just me. I've been a fan since the first album. In fact I went to see them twice on that debut and every chance I got since then. But now, he's gone all religious. Not a big deal to me but when you start changing the lyrics in your live set is when I have a problem as do many others. It's the fact that he's changing the lyrics of some songs the live set that don't jibe with his born-again Christian views. He will no longer play Animal (F**k like a beast) live, arguably W.A.S.P.'s signature song and what many know them for.

Gerald King I just think things are pretty tight here. And when you do go out things are so overpriced. And then, last we went out we got pulled over for tail light- actually wasn't out, and hassled and searched maybe because we had various black colored band shirts on, I guess the cops think metalheads are drugheads or something, I don't know. Let us go but ruined the night and I still feel weird about it.

Why is it that the rest of the world loves hard Rock heavy metal especially American bands from the '80s. Our bands have to grow across seas because the American producers and x Exodus of the record companies don't want to give them a chance here in United States. This metal bands are really good bands and legends. I can name several bands who make more money in Europe South America Brazil Russia etc. That just comes to show that the records company are forcing music I don't want to hear all the hip hop and all that rap I don't like all that stuff. If they was just kept metal going metal to change with times just like it has on his own and other countries.

I look at Blackie & I see greed ... just greed greed greed ... it’s all just a money making machine to him. I’m sure you’ve all heard the story of what he did to Chris ... Chris as complained about it a few times on KZbin . He’s the only one to have benefited financially from wasp .. because he sees it as his business . He’s not even interested in meeting the fans either it seems ... I used to really look up to this guy ... big time . Very talented ... but it’s all about the money .
@DeafMatch6 жыл бұрын
i think it is beacuse its the way he learn the music buisness works and stayes in that bubble... i think he loves writing songs and play live but for a long long time he does it FIRST to earn money and not for the rock n roll style and fans. sadly but i agree with you. i love wasp and always will cuz he has the most amazing voice ever! if they where bigger than they got i think it would be other way around. he woulnd need money ever and just do it for the music. now its kind of both or more at the money thing
@Lordhumongus5 жыл бұрын
It's how he makes his living. To be fair, if he writes a song that doesnt fit our definition of W.A.S.P the fans write him off and pretended he doesnt exist anymore. Blackie is one of the few people that continues to write new music that's legitimately comparable to older material. I love Chris. Made me pick up a guitar. But him and the others had a shot at making money and did. They didnt save it, they didnt plan, they didnt prepare. How is that his fault? That is according to Chris. How do we know they weren't all presented something and had it all explained? Blackie never says anything about it. Chris was beyond fucked up pretty much through the entire 80s until about 1996. Hes had numerous DUI's, he was still using meth until he left the states. I dont know what the availability is in Europe but he is a functioning meth addict. I give him that. I love Chris...really so but this is the truth. He wasnt educated and he may have signed a bad deal. To doubt that WASP is Blackies is laughable. Now writing and credits and royalties?? That all depends on effort and paying attention.
@JoeyPolycarpo5 жыл бұрын
it's his job, it's what he does for living, what's the matter? Money is more than a good reason for me. His greed make him to be what he is and we got enough good songs from WASP (Blackie) along the years because that! We all had and still have great songs to hear. It's suppost to be enough for me and for anyone. In other hand, I love the Chris work, but he was deep into the addiction, and when a man goes deep into the addiction liket that, is not the others fault the shit he does. We are what we do! Anyway, nobody is perfect. Let's keep hearing the good songs he write. Cheers..._\m/
