Wonderful times (and yet stressful times) the 80s. "Carefree" = "San Souci" (in English, we have a joke translation of sansouci = "Woebegone" - "woe/worry is gone"). From my Croatian ancestry = "bez briga". I wonder if my children with have that sense of "woe be gone". We had that existential threat of nuclear war in the 80s, and while this time feels less fatal there is some new danger that plagues us. It was a rainy day in October 1993. My gf and I hit the road from Bremen to Amsterdam listening Avalon album. Uncertainties and tension of being ex Yugoslavian war refugees mixed with a beauty of lovely moments between us collided with sounds coming from my old car’s speakers. In retrospective your hard days somehow became the most memorable hours of your life. It’s 2024, I live in California, my ex gf is somewhere in Croatia and I am still listening to this album. Love to all of you.

Dude, that's awesome, thank you for sharing just a glimpse of your life. I can only imagine growing up in that environment. I grew up in Galway, NY in the US. Snowmobiles, chopping wood, shoveling snow in the winters, dirt bikes, allot of Jack Danials, Southern Comfort, and malt liquor beer in the summer. My hat's off to you. The strong survive.

This song is a true masterpiece that has stood the test of time and continues to resonate with audiences today. The moment you hear the opening notes of this song, you are transported to a different world - a world of longing, reflection, and introspection. The haunting melody and the melancholic lyrics perfectly capture the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia, reminding us of the memories and moments that we cherish and hold dear. Bryan Ferry's soulful vocals are simply mesmerizing, and the way he delivers each line with so much emotion and sincerity is nothing short of awe-inspiring. The haunting guitar riffs and the dreamy synth arrangements complement his voice perfectly, creating a soundscape that is both ethereal and captivating. "More Than This" is more than just a song - it's a journey through time and space, a reflection on the past, and a celebration of the present. It's a song that has touched the hearts of millions of people over the years, and its message of hope and resilience is more relevant today than ever before. If you haven't heard "More Than This" yet, do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. This song is a true masterpiece, and it's no wonder that it has stood the test of time and remains a beloved classic to this day.

This song is much, much deeper than most people realize. The fact that this music video has him sitting in a theater watching his own performance is brilliant. This is how we live our lives, whether we realize it or not. Our life is but a movie unfolding before our very eyes, and we cannot control what happens. We are not the screenwriters. Free will is an illusion. And there's nothing more than what we have at this very moment. There's nothing more than this.
