Today I make my biggest nest (vessel) yet to hold my large slow stitching project for the Field Notes volume. The project is a quilt, so I need to be able to transport the blocks, threads and pieces with me wherever I go.
I use a blanket for the base, and start to add fabric, embroideries and crochet pieces to embellish

Wow! I love , love, love your work! It’s so inspiring to watch someone who is as excited as I am about stitching Joy! Kate, you're videos have inspired me to make a nest of all the Joy colours! They don't all fit in one nest, more like six!! I have finally harvested those embroidered doilies I've been hoarding. I've gone through all my wools and knitting cottons and made small balls of Joy. I already had a Little Woolie 4ply scrappy pack in the Joy colours so I've added them. I might even crochet some little flowers and hearts...I haven't crocheted in about 30 years! I've also picked out some Joy fabrics from my stash and I am now going through my pearle cottons to ferret out the Joy colours. I haven't made anything with them yet but just collecting them all together and just looking at them has already given me so much joy!! I smile every time I walk past the nests 😀 Thank you for the joy 😘😀 Oh and I just bought some old wool blankets from the Op Shop to use as a base...they will match the Joy colours.

Kate, I just love your big vessel. I have finally started my vessel. I’m doing it just like you. I’m starting big. I just can’t get enough of watching you with all the color. You have given me so much inspiration, and it makes me happy to just put the pieces of fabrics all over first and then I will gradually add the next layer of doily and hankie pieces and my crocheted flowers. Hi Kate, I'm interested in knowing what made you start your KZbin channel? You were talking about the Roxy sisters and going to Green door in February. It seems like a big leap from that to being a KZbinr. Did you sell journals before February or have a channel? Thanks, Kate. 😊

Hi Vanessa! Yes, I was making journals and selling before this. The KZbin catalyst for me, was that when I went to Green Door for the first time in Feb, I was working on one of my journals. Rachel and Sarah's Mum, Judy was there and asked me whether I was on KZbin? I said I didn't even watch it...and had no idea about the girls and this wonderful community. Judy organised for me to meet Rachel at her March workshop, I showed her one of my journals (she took it back to Italy with her), and she encouraged me to start my channel - mostly for the same reason as her, to share what we do, as we are making anyway! So here I am - I never ever would have guessed or dreamed that I would doing this.....I get the tingles....and feel so incredibly blessed that so many are with me in such a short time. Wow! Fantastic. You were destined to meet kindred spirits. It is great to be able to create without formal boundaries or restrictions, and to have that work appreciated and admired is so fulfilling. I am currently working on a squishy needle book inspired by you. I am using bright pink, orange, and yellow. Colours I would not have put together previously.
