Kate, I'm so glad you discovered crocheting with t shirt yarn. I have been doing it since I was new to learning to crochet. I love your colorful pouch that you mentioned adding a chain to, and that is what I use on some of mine. I also add a lining. I like the idea of using the loom flower. They hold up really well & when they get dirty, I hand wash mine and put it outside to dry, and they look like new.

My head is spinning … you’ve shown so much of what I love to do as well. I’ve been crocheting (when you say it, it sounds lovely), embroidering, sewing (machine), making cards, junk journals and art journals, and only since about last November, have been doing the slow stitching, Kantha, Boro, and even 4 rice bags and 2 Kawandi’s. I love the way you can incorporate so many different things into the slow stitching I only now had your video pop up and promptly subscribed. Can’t wait to see what else is in store. One thing that bothered me, though … when you say others’ work is “so much better than mine” … everyone has their own ticks and tricks and methods … you’ve got lovely work, don’t compare yourselves to others. ❤❤❤

Yes, you’re right that I love birds too and your little gathering of lovely goodies are delightful and perfect for your project. We give new life to the items we use in our projects and honour the original creators. As for what some might label messiness, to me it is creative expression and revelling in the textures and the beauty of raw edges (much like the beauty when we come to know another truly, with all the rough and raw parts). I was making tiny little yo-yos while watching this to add to a little upcycling project using a $1 table runner with beautiful ribbon flowers that asked to come home with me from the op shop. Kate, I love your style of stitching. If you're having fun with it and making things you enjoy and it's relaxing to you, then it's your style. You really found some nice treasures. I found some good things this week to use in slow stitch at estate sales. My husband likes going to sales too, so it's something fun we can do together.

I love your work. I have a background of patchwork quilts for many years and I would love to be able to do 'messy' stitching. There is an art to it which I in time am hoping comes more naturally.

To some abstract is easy art to make…but that’s not true. The individuals choices of color, where and how is uniquely their own creative expression. Just like these stitcheries…each one so uniquely you and free from the stress of precision ! It is not just Willy Billy done it still requires personal freeing choices of color, placement and technique…❤ sooo love your beautiful work! I’m doing my own as I’m inspired by you! And I’ve added a few fluorescents to my collections!

Hi Kate, For me, the purpose is enjoyment, relaxation, and inclusion. I enjoy the relaxed style of stitching. If I had to stick to a prescribed style, it would not be fun. I create as I go, and so there is no pressure but just relaxation. The Roxy community has taught us all to embrace the freedom of stitch. We all celebrate and find joy in each and everyones unique work. This opens up more opportunities for people to be involved and feel included. Thank you for another lovely video, Kate. 😊
