Those are lovely, I like the pictures a lot. To me it would give me so much stress making things in such a limited time, it would just no longer be relaxing by crafting for me. Kind of a match between myself and the clock. I admire you for being able to make such beauties this way. Ofcourse I have hardly any stash, just no space for it so that makes a lot of difference.

Helllllooooo Gayle, I just love your sense of humour, don't change a thing. You keep us soooo entertained and I am loving your videos. I think it is such a clever idea to put the spine material at the top of the book cover to see how far you have to glue!!! GENUIS. I have been gifted 3 Reader's Digests, and was rather intimidated as to what do do with them but after watching this video, I am now inspired. Will you be showing us how you put in our signitures when you are finished with coverings of the books??? That too, would be very helpful. THANK YOU for your videos and for the iinspiration you have installed in me again. BLeassings and hugs. Diana Fox

I love these, I was wondering if you were ever going to do a more than one signature journal again. I always use hardback books for my journals, just my go to for some reason. I’ve only done one soft cover one signature journal that was for Christmas. I don’t know why I prefer the hardback, I guess they’re more book like. At the start of the pandemic, almost a year ago, I was super duper productive and I gutted all my books so they’re ready to go, I do have some Readers Digests where the spines fell apart so I have to make new spines but that’s easy enough. I’ve only done a hidden spine couple of times and I did it different than you did I made it wider, you know with the sides of the Kraft Tex glued down on either side of the book for an inch or so. I’m going to have to try your way sometime.

A journal with no decorating - pockets, tucks, etc. on the pages. Cover and pages sewn in only. 😁❤️
@patbrez30793 жыл бұрын
Beautiful images on the covers. I have a question for you...with all the supplies you have in your craft room, how does one decide what to use in your journal; I have collected in the last year a few items for journals and sometimes I get overwhelmed on deciding on what to use..there are so many options. How do you break all this down? I been trying to keep up with the idea’s and mass making to use in journals. Again, thank you for your daily video’s! Happy Crafting! 👍☃️
@gayleagostinelli_ct3 жыл бұрын
My only advice, one that others give all the time too, is not to think too much. I think with doing more and more journals that becomes easier and easier. As you’ve seen, when I start a new journal, I go through my pre-made ephemera basket on quick time. If it strikes me that a piece will go, I grab it. Not much debating, just go for it. Then I put those pieces in where I think they look nice and boom, done! ❤️
@saintbernardcrafts3 жыл бұрын
Hi and hugs to you!! LOVE the covers but i wonder, are you gonna do something with the outside spine or leave it this way? Thank you xx
@gayleagostinelli_ct3 жыл бұрын
I let the particular journal tell me if I cover the spine or not. The spines on these books are really pretty, so the don’t need covering. That’s why I’m doing a hidden spine, so there will be no sewing on the outside and I can leave the outside spine as is if I want to. ❤️

Morning Linda! Another thing I like to use to strengthen spines is Tyvek. It the strong stuff they make envelopes out of...the post office envelopes are made of Tyvek. Also, a thin chipboard will work too. Rachel uses just fabric to strengthen hers. Lots of options! Excited you may give it a try! ❤️

@gayleagostinelli_ct3 жыл бұрын
I think you are asking about the KraftTex? The spine may look sturdy enough but it’s not. You can feel the give in it. Plus this is a vintage book so vintage covers compromise over time. The KraftTex is very tough. It will hold up over time. ❤️

I have like 30 reader’s digest books fron the 50’s & 60’s. I’m always unsure how to make a journal out of them tho. They are a smaller size so most Digitais don’t fit in them. What do you do? Hugz sent your way
@LynsAlteredArts3 жыл бұрын
When I do the smaller Readers Digest I just resize my digitals. Do you have a photo program that allows you to resize? Off the top of my head something like 7 1/2” x 10” sounds familiar but don’t hold me to that, measure your Readers Digest. If you resize that way you don’t lose any of the image by cropping or cutting it smaller. I use Photoshop Elements but I’m sure there must be other photo programs that have the resize option .
@gayleagostinelli_ct3 жыл бұрын
I have several videos on Reader’s Digest journals, if you search Gayle Agostinelli Reader’s Digest, they will come up. I’ve used thinner scrapbook paper in mine as the decorative paper at her than digitals. Looks like Lyn had a great solution for you too! 😁❤️
