When Jimi Hendrix was asked what it was like to be the world's best guitar player he said I don't know you'll have to ask Roy Clark
@joem9987 Жыл бұрын
The most amazing part is not only how good he is but how good he is at numerous instruments. When did he find the time to practice it all. lol
@1aleckman12 ай бұрын
Great reaction! Roy was definitely Top Tier! You'll have to listen to this, he does the same song on a twelve string, full version. Roy Clark's Mesmerizing "Malagueña" (Live). Have a great day!

Thank you! Yes he was amazing!

Thanks, dude! Roy Clark is probably the only guitarist I would say might be close to the GOAT - SRV - different styles, for sure... but both humble geniuses! lol

I saw Roy in the 80's and the 2000's in person. Watching in person was better than video.😅

I'm amazed by his control of dynamics while strumming that fast. I have no idea how he does that.

He was a monster guitar player, way ahead of his time really...
@davidwalker50543 ай бұрын
His right hand technique is Django level. But to keep it flowing and fluid at that speed is mindblowing any stumble or hesitation or overstretching stands out like a sore thumb
@MicahTerry12 жыл бұрын
I love the way Roy goes into a duo mid song. That “slappy” technique is him playing the Dancer’s part as well.
@YesYouCANPlayGuitar2 жыл бұрын
He really was mindblowing on the guitar!

If you watch Jack and Tony they are watching Roy play as fans and not characters of a tv show. Guys like Buddy Rich, Roy, Glen Campbell just to name a couple that really doesn't get the recognition they should. Roy is an amazing guy.
@YesYouCANPlayGuitar2 жыл бұрын
I did notice that in fact during his performance, it would be hard no matter who you are to not be in awe of that performance. I did a reaction video recently to Glen Campbell performing Dueling Banjos live, I knew he was a singer, I knew he played guitar, but I was blown away by how clean his picking technique was!
@roberthudson19594 ай бұрын
A big part of the reaction came from the fact that Clark sandbagged Randall and Klugman. He played something else in rehearsal, then brought out his masterpiece for the show.
@Shad0hawK2 жыл бұрын
You should watch him play it on a twelve string.

Yes, Glen should be more talked about, shown to younger guys. When I was young, learning and heard Glen I was mesmerized. All I knew about him was " I am a lineman for the county...." being my age, that was nap time!! But the man was incredible picker

I forgot all about The Odd Couple TV show. I would see the reruns as a kid when I got home from school. You and I are about the same age range, I just turned 49 this past November.

The most amazing thing is he is playing Flamenco on steel strings and getting that great sound. Most have to use nylon.

i wonder of Miyavi was influenced by him, another Guitarists that plays the electric and acoustic with no pick and shreds it, so amazing when i see guitarists like this. You would love Miyavi dude, even tho for some he's an acquired tasted. If you're interested he's known as the samurai guitarist. "Miyavi what's my name live in new york city" is a good start.
@YesYouCANPlayGuitar2 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard of Miyavi, but I'm intrigued now, I will check that out! :)

This was totally spur of the moment You can see how surprised they were at the Performance of malaguena But remember this was performed in front of a live audience Roy is an American guitar God very few could shoe the diversity of styles and number of instruments he could play

I totally agree, he was a phenom!

He holds his right hand as if he is holding an invisible pick. Its hard to tell what is actually strumming, his thumb or index finger or maybe both. Notice he separates his thumb and index finger when he starts the unique finger picking style. Up to that point I thought he had a pick but he does not drop anything at 3:12.
