I loved the way he used to cadge spliffs from the audience and then forget or repeat whole verses or rely on the audience 'filling in' the bits he'd forget and my god, he can talk for England :)

By Jove, what a meaty feast of Roy Harper. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have been listening to his stuff since 1971. Roy presents us with a strong case for NOT decriminalising cannabis, in my view.

God, I love his voice.

Roy. Please officially re-release this. I get why you may not wish to, but it captures your zeitgeist and those who love you get this

I can hear everything from The Who all the way to Radiohead in here. It's amazing what an influence Roy had/has on so many artists. He was influenced by Leadbelly and Guthrie and now he has become them. Hats off.

Thanks ever so much for uploading that. I have never seen it and it was amazing to take a little trip down memory lane. That Mark Ellen interview was where I became a Harper fan 20 years ago!

He did several gigs in Canada in 1994 and at least one show in NY (Bottom Line or Knitting Factory?)around that same time. Thurston Moore was there. I used to listen to alot live Roy stuff on cassette. I still have them, but never play 'em anymore. Should probably put them on CD before they turn to dust.

I've got the original - number 5/500 - couldn't believe it when it arrived (mail order in those days of course) and started with THAT. ROFLMAO - the man IS a genius, probably he will be recognised 10 years after he dies.

I think Roy is a Goose . I remember one gig . MY mate deliberately refused to give me any of his gear and I got very very drunk . In fact I heckled Roy. And He told me to shut up. Sorry Roy. I am ten years sober. Brilliant. Tom Tiddler!S!!

Terrible video but some of the performances are incredible, and the sound's decent. It really captures what it was like to see him in the 80's

what bloody tape is he talking about?
@BrettOwen715 жыл бұрын
He's referring to this program you are watching now. It originally was issued as a special order vhs tape long before the days of video streaming. Thank God for KZbin otherwise, we might never have gotten a chance to see this.

The reason you are still a fan of the music is because Roy is erratic...
@FredericN17 жыл бұрын
That sums it up well. Brilliant songwriter and guitarist, but a chronic career suicider. He might have wanted to try a few weeks without the puff. I'm still a fan of the music, but they guy is just way too erratic.
