We regret never stopping in to say hello to him at his ranch dispute passing it every year on our way to Oregon where we now live. My father and Roy Rogers were childhood friends, growing up together in Duck Run a rural community outside of Portsmouth, Ohio. I was lucky enough to meet Roy Rogers several times as a child and once as an adult. Always a fan and felt close to him because of the connection.

I'm 90 years old now and if I make it to March 2024 I'll be 91. Roy Rogers was one of my favorite cowboys. I pretended to be Roy as a child fighting cardboard boxes and playing I was Roy Rogers fighting bad guys . To me he was a great man and a great horse back rider. I am 70 years old and remember Roy Rogers as a kid. There was always something different about him that I liked, as many others did also. His decency stood out like a bright light in the mostly plastic Hollywood. After watching this video two things stand out to me. His character showed integrity, compassion, and humility. The second, his eyes were fixed on a different world, one of spiritual well being. There was never anyone like him, and I doubt there ever will be. His values made him wealthy beyond measure. That my friends, is the only wealth you can take with you.

While growing up in the 1940’s Roy Rogers and Dale Evans always represented a couple I looked up to, as a kid. Not only where their movies wholesome, they personified values, and character. I treasure the memories they presented to my generation. Truly the simple kind of truths Roy, and Dale projected where filled with values which would be as monumental today, in shaping the lives of children, if parents once again embraced these virtues, in their lives, and the lives of their families. Probably the greatest thing about Roy Rogers was his heart, and as a child I felt the love he shared, out of that big heart.

I'm now 69 and I remember watching Roy Roger's show in late 50's and early 60's on Saturday mornings. He was a great man and had a great life. I was driving back to Vegas from California back in mid 1990's and stopped at his museum in Victorville CA. The lady working there at the time said he and Dale would drop down quite often. I did not have that luck but hopefully when I leave my earthly life and enter my heavenly life I will get the chance to meet him and Dale. I thought he was so handsome, and every saturday i spent at the movies with. every other kid in town watching Roy Rogers and Dale Evans movies. along with Gabby Hayes. . i used to dream about him, too!! i had a girlish crush on him. I was only 9-10 yrs old. i collected horse statues, especially palomino’s like Trigger. He was truly he King of the Cowboys. There were other cowboys,, too, like Gene Autrey and The Lone Ranger and Hoplalong Cassidy, but Roy was nunber one. when the theater showed up coming movie previews of roy Rogers movies,, all the kids in the theater would cheer and clap and we could hardly wait until the next saturday. i like so many girls, was ‘Horse-crazy” for Palomino’s like Trigger and Dale’s mare,’ Buttermilk” . i never had a horse of my own, but I rode my friend’s horses and i even became a horse, myself, for a while LOL.I Ireally enjoyed this program immensely it brought back so many happy memories. . I knew Roy and Dale had many children and i read Dale’s book about their daughter, Robin, I never knew what a great family man and husband he was in real life. until this tribute given by his daughter. I had avoided this program because of the Title, which seemed to hint at something unbecoming in his life. There have been too many books that seek to tarnish the reputations of famous people after they are dead and cannot defend themselves and no way was I going to watch anything bad about my childhood hero or his family. In 1981 I was playing piano for a Southern Gospel Quartet. While on a tour of the Southwest, we were booked to do a weeknight concert at Roy and Dale's church in Apple Valley. Roy was out of town at the time. Dale told us he was on a trail ride and camping trip with some family and friends. But it was nice to meet Dale and present her with our record albums. One thing for certain about them, they were exactly as they seemed in movies and public appearances. There was no "other side" to the Rogers Family. They were for real!

When my mom would come along acting like Dale to settle the argument Evans. Some times Dad will join in with the harmonica when we would sing Happy Trails and Tumble Weed. I was a soldier in the First Air Cav in 1966 and had been awarded the soldier of the month and for a reward was to attend a special thanksgiving day meal with Roy and Dale and Hugh Obrian. There is a young man in my Church that has always reminded me of Roy Rogers. he has the eyes and look just like Roy Rogers and still does. His name is Steve. Steve is a very strong Christian and even preaches some times for different Churches. Here I am close to 91 years old and Steve is the only man I've seen with eyes like Roy Rogers. This old world would be much better place if we still had Roy Rogers. He isn't really gone because he still lives with us in Spirit. My dad played with Roy when a small boy in Manchester Ohio. Roy's family lived on a shanty boat and docked on the Ohio River at Manchester in the early 1900's. I got to meet Roy many years ago on one of his trips to his hometown. I knew his sister Cleta and visited her home in Portsmouth Ohio and was shown some of her collection of Roy's. She also spent time with my neighbor in Otway. Roy came to Otway one evening on one of his visits home and sang Happy Trails before he left. Small local shack where local musicians would gather. That was almost 40 years ago. He would visit on occasion his childhood friends on what is now Roy Rogers Rd near McDermott, Ohio. My daughter lived across from his childhood home for a time. Wish I had recorded my dad's stories from the past.

For any of you who have ever seen "The Adventures of Robin Hood" with Errol Flynn, you might be interested to know that the horse Maid Marion was riding in the forest scene is Trigger, before he was Trigger. Roy bought him from the movie company shortly after they finished the movie and renamed him "Trigger". The rest is history.

Roy Rogers was my hero! When very young I wore a locket with his picture & also one of Dales & you could have found me every Saturday in the theatre watching his movie! Much later my teenage daughter took me to meet Roy Rogers at an opening of his restaurant & I wore my locket & showed him! He shook my hand & said, “How about that”. My father, also, a hero of mine died within a few days of Mr. Rogers’ passing so I pictured them both going to heaven through the pearly gates together! ❤️🙏💔

Most people dont know this but all his shows were made on his ranch and a lot of his films as well. But he set aside part of his ranch to b for brutally abused people most kids of various age some as old as 44 n they can stay as long as they need. When they come rhere they're given a horse or pony and taught how to care for it. If they're v little they're given a lamb. They have bunkhouse. They're taught how to care for themselves do laundry, make their bunk grow a garden n cook clean can n sew. Royy would take them on the mountain on horseback to camp out n have a campfire n sing. Most of the "trailheads that work the place are licensed nurses, psychologists n psychiatrists mostly volunteers working with the kids to help without alienating them. It's also like a vacation for the workers. He set it up in his will that there is enuf money is set aside that the interest runs the place without touching the principal. And Roy Rogers restaurant sets aside a very small amount of their profit to help run it I think is 1% Anyway the news media wanted to come in n take pictures n interview the kids but Roy said NO as they've been brutalized too much leave them alone to heal. The man n Dale were Saints.

Used to imagine , most day's, 'riding ' Trigger & my older sibling imagined riding horse (forget the name) ( ridden by Derango kid - phonetic) who wore all back. I've always been impressed with Roy Rogers. He stood up for what he believed in and set a wonderful example for all of his children and followers to live by. He will continue to be an icon in history in his way, just like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He rises about the later two because of his Christian heritage, and moral integrity.

That is a shame. Roy Roger's role was to protect the citizens and then only use the gun on the bad guys, not for violence.

In the midst of America's depression, God gave us Shirley Temple to give us a smile in an awful time. Again, during WWII, another awful time of worry and suspense, God gave us Roy Rogers. a cowboy who always showed us the good will win, and to never give up. Roy and Dale were precious Christians who walked the walk. Thank God for them!

Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' stories are very inspirational of being able to achieve your life dreams despite all odds. It shows that family is a pivotal part in how they raised their biological and adopted children. It also showed the powers to be that molding someone was not a natural factor in a person's style and life. Bravo to fans who also objected to changes in the legendary persona of Roy Rogers.

I love this!!! It taught me things about Roy Rogers, and Dale Evans, his wife, his second wife, that I didn’t know at all!! ❤ love this!!! I want to go back and watch this again!! I have a love affair with Roy Rogers, though I wasn’t born until 1948… besides Dale Evans also! I love his cowboy image, and I loved his horse, Trigger!!!

Roy Rogers was my childhood hero, and a person whom I, not only looked up to as a child, but as a man, who lead an exemplary lifestyle as a person and a Christian, who I would like to pattern my own life after. What an amazing legacy of a great man, a great American!

I always welcomed seeing a Roy Rogers film or TV show on a Saturday morning! The Love this man showed was constant. I started my career in Television as an NBC Page located in Burbank in 1974... while I was with NBC promotion... I believe Dusty Rogers joined the Page staff... I'm not too sure about this though as I'm no spring chicken and the grey matter between my ears isn't always working right in the memory game! As a Christian I do resonate with Roy Roger's kind-hearted actions throughout his lifetime! RIP Roy Rogers...I hope to meet you one day when my physical life here is at end! God Bless.

Roy was a real man a great example of a true American to be treasured. He always looked like he was in great physical condition. Getting on and off horses and physical stunts. He looked great and acted great. The kind of guy you want to be and raise a family.

When Roy visited Toronto in the early 80's I was driving limousines, and was assigned Roy & his son. As an adopted infant I was always proud of who I was be ause I had been "chosen", and especially when I heard that Roy & Dale had adopted children. During his visit I shared how much his family values, especially about adoption, had meant to me as a child, and He was grateful to know that it had served me well. He was very humble in person, and a true gentleman. How thrilled I was to be able to "thank" him for his influence in my young life.
