I like Roy more than Marth, but Marth is actually generally a more effective character. More weight, more speed, higher jumps, better reach, better aerials...So I've started using Marth even though Roy is so much cooler.

I really miss Roy. They should put him, as well as Black Knight(Radiant Dawn) and Zephiel(Sealed Sword) in the next SSB game. Having Tiki(Chiki to you Japanese players) as an assist trophy wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

When I first got SSBM and unlocked Marth for the first time I was like: Hey this guy is pretty cool.(I'm a sucker for Japanese characters). But when I unlocked Roy for the first time, there was just something about him that I liked. Sure Marth's fighting capabilities are better than Roy's but there was just something special about Roy that made me want to play as him all the time, even more than Marth. Now every time I play SSBM I just can't help but to play as Roy. "ROYS MY BOY!"

Well, put it this way.. In SSBB, Marth come back with relatively new moves. The shield breaker and some of his "A" attacks are different. Maybe, just a thought, Roy could come back with some new moves of his own, instead of being a copy.

I go with Roy, mostly because I go into the thick of the action. With Marth, I feel that I do not hit as hard. Roy is my best character without a doubt.

Although I think Roy is cooler, Marth is just an overall better and more well-balanced character. I don't see why for Brawl they couldn't have just tweaked Roy a bit, and had Marth, Roy, and Ike all be in Brawl.

Nice Fight. I have to say. Doing the combination with Marth on Brawl is easier than doing it for Marth in Melee. Ike is a good character too but he is just slow and powerful. He also doesn't have any fast combos. Roy was a clone of Marth but at least he had combinations. People on WiFi usually just spam Aether with Ike. Good Video and Good Job, Roy. Marth was good too.

Man this reminds me so much of when I had Melee. My best character was Roy because he had strength and mobility even though I use Marth in Brawl (I don't like using Ike), I still miss using Roy.

When I heard about Brawl, of course I was excited. But I KNEW I would've been pissed if they took out Roy. >:C So Nintendo, if taking out Roy was such a good idea, why replace him with Ike? Seriously, how couldn't they have seen the impending shitstorm come from taking out Roy? Literally EVERYWHERE I go, people want Roy back. Roy was one of the best people in the game hands down. Yeah Marth is fast, but that won't do anything against someone who knows roys strengths and weaknesses.

Chester, which character were you? If you were Marth, then you had good timing with quite a number of those counters. If you were Roy though, try to be a little more liberal with how often you use the Flare Blade. Yes, it's a powerful move and can tear through shields, but a regular side-smash can put a lot of pressure on your opponent and is faster. Also, Roy's counter is generally more powerful than Marth's (since you're closer), so try to take advantage of Roy's counter a little more.

For some reason, most people don't know that these 2 aren't from the same game, Roy is from fire emblem :Sealed sword, and marth is from several different games.

I really hate those comments about Melee being better than Brawl and how Brawl fucked everything good in the series because they are bullshit. Brawl is better in it's own way but something I don't like is that Marth looked better in Melee. He had an anime kind of look which was so great!

Due to the fact he didn't have a game to promote. Marth had the remake on the DS that came out that year along with Ike's game coming out that is why those two were representing Fire Emblem. Atleast that is my theory.

In my opinion Id prefer marth because of his' high speed and ability to avoid slow attacks very easily.. But i wouldnt mind Roy either because his' speed isnt that low and he has a great amount of power in all of his' basic attacks so theres pretty much pros and cons for both guys, but the funny thing is that their Advantages and Disadvantages are complete opposites of the other

I'd just like to ask, which moves of Roy's are stronger than Marth's? Any tipper Marth lands is as strong or stronger than any or Roy's moves, save for his neutral special and counter. Roy also has a non-existant aerial game as none of his aerial moves give adequate hitstun to flow into other moves. Marth is higher on the tier list simply because he's better. Don't get me wrong, Roy certainly has his strengths, but Marth is better than him in almost all of those strengths.

@ReldWolf I'm with you. Ike seems to be stronger and everything, but it's just classicness. I guess they might also have not wanted a repeat type thing. If you think about it Ganondorf and Captain Falcon are the only repeat characters, ones with the same moves as the other, in Brawl. you still have close, but no complete repeats. they slowed Marth down in Brawl, at least it seems. Then I dislike how they changed his B into a stab. The FLUDD thing sucks. It doesn't even hurt them.

just cause something is on a "_ pedia" doesnt make it absolutely right or accurate, it just means someone got to make the site first and whoever decides to write something on it gets too. a lot of things on "_ pedia" sites are just random people writing something which means it can be VERY inacurate/wrong

That Marth looked kinda funky... Anyway, Roy's FS in Brawl? He'll pull out the Sword of Seals and do his critical animation like in SoS and let out a huge wave of fire in front of him, and anyone in contact of the sword is dealt huge knockback.

@RAVIN0139 Marth is from Fire emblem 1, 3, and 11 while Roy is from Fire emblem 6. 1, 3 and 6 aren't out in the U.S and never will be unless you count remakes *cough11cough*.

I don't want to be mean, but try looking up AT's(advanced techniques) for these two characters. You would learn A LOT - L-canceling, wavedashing, edge-hogging, shffling, and many more. Just look up some of the the techniques I wrote up on KZbin. You'll be amazed.
